A tabloid story claiming Zac Efron acted like a “jerk and a creep” on the set of his upcoming biopic about serial killer Ted Bundy is completely false. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. We’re told there’s no truth to it.
Efron portrays the notorious murderer in the upcoming film, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, and according to In Touch, the actor got way too into character during filming. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “He got really lost in his portrayal of Ted, so much so that he acted like a real jerk and a creep to the cast and crew, and even to some fans in town.”
The outlet’s alleged source goes on to say Efron took his method acting so far that “many people on set didn’t think it was an act, and he had to apologize.” The seemingly nonexistent tipster adds, “And now there are some fans out there who think Zac’s really rude!” Gossip Cop, however, has learned this is all nonsense.
A source involved in the production of the Bundy movie tells us Efron didn’t embody the serial killer when the cameras were off. We’re further told he was nothing but respectful to the cast and crew. In fact, Efron has posted several behind-the-scenes photos from the film on Instagram, in which he’s happily posing alongside his colleagues. On the last day of shooting, the actor wrote, “That’s a wrap. Here’s to the #wickedcrew that made it all possible.”
Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to debunk a bogus story surrounding the production of Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Gossip Cop recently busted the National Enquirer for falsely claiming Efron believed he was too handsome to portray Bundy. Playing a serial killer is new territory for the former teen heartthrob, which is probably why various outlets have been inspired to make up stories about the project. However, the tabloids clearly have no insight into the film’s production.
For further proof that Efron wasn’t a “jerk” or “creep” on set, see some behind-the-scenes photos below. The pictures include Efron posing with the director, a cameraman and a group of extras, as well as chatting with co-star John Malkovich between takes.
