The “Grown-ish” star got super real in a recent interview about dealing with social media trolls, speaking out and being a role model in Hollywood. At 18-years-old, Yara definitely feels the pressure to be a perfect example, but knows she’s still growing and learning.
“When you are in the public eye as a person of color, you are given very little room to mess up. [It means] letting the culture down.”
The Freeform actress also shared how she deals with haters and social media. She admits that she can definitely get her feelings hurt when seeing negative comments.
“There are those moments when I can go through 10 million amazing comments that are super supportive, and one person may say something and I’ll stew over it. That’s something that I’ve actively had to work on.”
