Even after 25 years after its release, Thelma & Louise still continues to inspire. Case in point: Geena Davis’ appearance in the coming-of-age comedy, Don’t Talk to Irene.

Playing herself, the actress appears in the titular character’s dream and uses the iconic feminist film as a teaching tool for the next generation. Taking Irene (Michelle McLeod) by the hand, the 62-year-old explains just why the movie is empowering now as it was a quarter of a century ago when it hit the theaters.

“I know everything looks horrible right now, but just remember: even when Thelma and Louise lost all of their money, I got to have motel sex with Brad Pitt,” she quips. “Accentuate the positives. We lost everything, but then I got to have a great character arc.”

She continues, “Take it from me, Irene. Boys don’t like it when girls are taller than them. They also don’t like it when girls are fatter than them. But do you know what we say to that? We say: f**k ‘em.”

Also starring Anastasia Phillips, Bruce Gray, and Scott Thompson, Don’t Talk to Irene centers around an overweight and unpopular teen who gets stuck completing two weeks of community service at a retirement home. Following her passion for cheerleading, she secretly enrolls the senior residents to audition for a dance-themed competition show to prove that you don’t need to be physically “perfect” to achieve your dreams.
