The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge debut their third child outside the Lindo Wing

I’m so glad that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have kept a really truncated schedule for everything baby-related today. She went into labor early this morning, they arrived at the hospital around 6 am, Kensington Palace confirmed her arrival at the hospital, and then gave birth five hours after her arrival at the hospital. Everything has moved very smoothly, and they used a similar day-long timeline as they did when Princess Charlotte was born. I was absolutely relieved that Kate had no complications, and she would be leaving the hospital less than 12 hours after she arrived.
Will and Kate and Baby Boy Cambridge left the hospital just before 6 pm London-time. Natasha Archer, Kate’s long-suffering stylist (“MORE BUTTONS!” Kate yells constantly), must have dropped off this dress hours earlier, when Archer visited. It’s a bespoke dress by Jenny Packham, and it has that vintage-y feel that Kate loves. One part Victorian, one part ‘80s-throwback to Diana. I’m surprised she wore red, honestly. I’m not surprised that the dress involved a collar which looks like a doily.
Anyway, Kate looks absolutely glowing and beautiful – I’ve always thought she looks her prettiest when she’s pregnant, and just like with Charlotte’s birth, Kate just looked happy and relaxed. The Cambridges have gone back to Kensington Palace, and I assume that at some point in the next week, Kate and the baby will decamp to either Middleton Manor in Bucklebury or Anmer Hall. We’ll see. I’m also assuming the Queen will visit them at Kensington Palace tomorrow, and we’ll probably/maybe learn the name tomorrow? Fingers crossed for Prince T’Challa Arthur Albert Lupo!
