Taylor Swift, Joe Alwyn Shopping For Engagement Ring?

Are Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn shopping for an engagement ring? A new report claims the couple is on the hunt for a “specific sparkler” as they plan to marry. Gossip Cop, however, can bust the story.

“A Taylor-Made Engagement Ring,” reads a headline in the current edition of the National Enquirer, which asserts that now that Swift has “found the one” in Alwyn, they’re “ring shopping together” so she can help him “choose the appropriate bling.” A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “Taylor mentioned she likes platinum bands and pear-shaped diamonds, so that’s what he’s gunning for.”

Continues the supermarket tabloid’s alleged source, “She insists on being involved and is all over the idea of a unique design.” What’s more, claims the gossip magazine, is that Swift and Alwyn have been “unofficially engaged for months.” But they haven’t gone public with their marriage plans because Swift “wants to breaks the news with the right bling on her finger,” contends the purported tipster. It’s even alleged Alwyn is so “eager to please” the singer, he’s “enlisted Taylor’s besties,” Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, “for advice.”

If any of this sounds familiar, that’s because NW ran a suspiciously similar tale last week. That publication also claimed Swift and Alwyn were “unofficially engaged for a couple of months” and that she wanted to “announce the news once they’ve settled on the perfect engagement ring.” Some of the lines are virtually identical, with a few different details thrown into this new version. But the narrative as a whole remains untrue. Gossip Cop was previously assured the couple was not ring shopping for an engagement, and now reps for Swift are denying the claims as well.

That said, the romance is still going strong and jewelry does play a role in their relationship, just not of the engagement ring variety. As People pointed out, Swift wears a “J” necklace for Alwyn in her new “Delicate” music video. She has been seen wearing the accessory on and off for months, and even references it in the song “Call It What You Want,” which features the lyric, “I want to wear his initial on a chain round my neck/Chain round my neck/Not because he owns me/But ’cause he really knows me.” The necklace also appears in an AT&T video for the song.

To date, that remains the piece of jewelry Alwyn and Swift are using to show off their love. And while an engagement isn’t out of the question for the future, the couple simply hasn’t made plans to wed yet and aren’t in the process of hunting for a ring. Should the pair actually get engaged one day, Gossip Cop will have the accurate news, as opposed to an outlet that was embarrassingly wrong last year when it claimed Swift was getting back together with Conor Kennedy.
