Taylor Swift, Harry Styles Never Got Back Together, Despite Report A Year Ago

Taylor Swift and Harry Styles never got back together, despite a report from one year ago today that asserted they were reuniting. On April 25, 2017, Gossip Cop busted a tabloid for wrongly alleging the two singers were rekindling their romance after having broken up in 2013. The story was untrue then, and it’s abundantly clear now how off-base the claim was.

Exactly 12 months ago, the tabloid NW maintained that Swift and Styles were “ready to give their love another shot.” The magazine falsely alleged Styles and Swift had recently had a “super-secret meet-up in Nashville” that confirmed the “spark” between them was “still there.” The magazine’s supposed “insider” further contended Swift had always “secretly hoped” that she and Styles would rekindle and felt that this time around he had “matured” and become the “man she needs.”

In the article, Ed Sheeran was credited for having brought “them back together.” “He was only too happy to help,” asserted the tabloid’s fake or ill-informed tipster. And Styles didn’t need “much convincing” to reunited with Swift, added the publication.

At the time, however, a source close to the “Shake it Off” singer exclusively told Gossip Cop on background that talk of Swift getting back together with Styles was 100 percent untrue. We were assured by a Swift confidante on condition of anonymity that there was never a “super-secret meet-up in Nashville” and, more importantly, that she and Styles were never, ever getting back together. Now, a full 365 days have passed and clearly Styles and Swift did not “give their love another shot.”

For her part, it appears Swift was already dating Joe Alwyn when the inaccurate NW piece was published. And while they’ve tried to keep their romance private, since then Swift and Alwyn were spotted at her Jingle Ball performance in New York and hiking on the other side of the country in Malibu. She even wrote “Delicate,” which is on her album Reputation, about Alwyn. As for the former One Direction singer, in the past year Styles has be linked to Victoria’s Secret model Camilla Rowe.

Sadly, the tabloid’s reporting didn’t get much better in the past 12 months. In December, for example, the magazine falsely claimed Swift was pregnant. Obviously, that was wrong too. As Gossip Cop has previously noted, time ferrets out what’s fact and what’s fiction. And part of the reason we occasionally look back at articles we busted a year before is so readers can see more clearly that while other outlets fill their stories with fabrications, Gossip Cop fills its time with fact-checking.
