Like any dad, Lionel Richie is afraid of his baby girl falling for the wrong man.
Despite what her father says, Sofia Richie doesn’t think her relationship with Scott Disick is just “just a phase.”
The 19-year-old is standing by her man despite Lionel Richie’s recent comments about her May-December romance with the 34-year-old Keeping Up with the Kardashians star. Though she’s “not mad” at the patriarch for casually brushing off their relationship to the press, a source tells Celebuzz! that she doesn’t necessarily agree with his off-the-cuff remark either.
“She likes to have fun with Scott, but she’s also fully committed to the relationship. It’s not just a fling to her,” the insider reveals. “They’re really happy. They’re in a good place right now.”
In a recent interview with Australia’s Daily Telegraph, Lionel said he was unsure how long Sofia’s relationship with the father-of-three would last. “When you’re 19 you know everything. Is it going to be for life? I don’t know. But for right now it’s just a phase and I’m going to stand real still in the corner, get me a good drink and not make too much noise,” the singer, 68, said. “I don’t really know what to think. I told Sofia I will have no opinion. I’ll continue to be my cheerful self and move on.”
Still, that hasn’t stopped Sofia from seeing Scott. Our informant tells us the model “knows where her dad is coming from” when he makes comments about her love life and doesn’t fault him for doing so.
“Dads tend to worry and hers is no different. Sofia is not mad at him,” the source shares. “She knows he only wants to see her happy. She’s being really mature about all of this.”
