Selena Gomez and Justin Theroux are not dating, despite a new claim. Nor is Jennifer Aniston upset about a romantic relationship that doesn’t exist. Gossip Cop can bust this untrue report.
According to Celebrity Insider, Gomez and Theroux are not only dating, but “have totally fallen in love,” and Aniston is “not happy at all about this.” The site is basing its allegations on Life & Style, asserting that the tabloid has “an insider is confirming Justin and Selena’s relationship.” That’s actually completely false.
The magazine did wrongly allege earlier this week that Gomez and Theroux were becoming “more than friends,” but it should be noted that the word “dating” did not appear anywhere in the cover story. Additionally, the original article never claimed they had “fallen in love,” nor did it even go as far as alleging Gomez and Theroux were in a “relationship.” In fact, it was specifically said that “nothing physical has happened between them.”
But now the blog is twisting the print story, which was about Gomez and Theroux potentially deciding to take their friendship to another level, and inaccurately asserting they are already “dating” and “in love.” This sensationalism is plain wrong and easily disproven. Just one week ago, “Entertainment Tonight” reported that in the wake of Gomez’s split from Justin Bieber, she is focused on “herself” and is not interested in being “in a serious relationship.”
Similarly, E! Online reported that while Gomez has moved on from Bieber and is “open” to dating, she’s “learning to appreciate the single life.” Obviously, then, she is not in a “relationship” with Theroux. By that token, it makes no sense to allege Aniston is bothered by a nonexistent coupling. And when HollywoodLife already tried this week to claim Aniston was “furious” over Gomez-Theroux “dating rumors,” her spokesperson confirmed to Gossip Cop that her purported reaction was made-up.
We’d also be remiss not to mention that Celebrity Insider has a documented history of spreading misinformation about all three stars. In February, for example, the outlet outrageously and baselessly alleged Gomez had suffered a “drug relapse.” In April, the online publication falsely claimed Aniston and Theroux were having “major regrets” over their breakup. And around the same time, the website erroneously speculated Theroux had a “new girlfriend.”
All of these busts, which can be seen in our archives, demonstrate that the site is not a credible, reliable, knowledgeable or trustworthy resource for real news on Gomez, Theroux or Aniston. In contrast, Gossip Cop strives to provide transparently provide fact-checked information on these stars, and many others, every day.
