Sarah Jessica Parker, Andy Cohen Friendship Making Matthew Broderick Jealous?

Is Matthew Broderick jealous of Sarah Jessica Parker’s close friendship with Andy Cohen? That’s the ridiculous claim in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the story, which the actress’s rep says is simply untrue.

“Broderick Now Sarah & Andy’s Third Wheel,” reads a headline in the latest issue of the National Enquirer. The accompanying article says the actor feels like his wife is pushing him aside to spend time with the Bravo host. “Whenever Sarah gets invited to a big event, Andy wants to be her plus-one, leaving Matthew home alone with the kids,” a so-called “source” tells the magazine.

This bogus narrative was seemingly concocted because Parker frequently brings Cohen as her guest to the Met Gala, including this year. However, the actress’s rep tells us Broderick chooses not to go to the event because it’s “not his thing.” In fact, during an October 2016 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Parker responded to a question from a fan who wanted to know why Parker brings the TV personality to the Met Gala instead of her husband.

“Does Matthew mind that I’m your date every year?” Cohen asked the actress, to which she responded, “No, I feel like he thinks you’re doing him a great…” and before she could finish the sentence, the host quipped, “Favor by getting him out of it?” Parker nodded and added, “Well first of all, he’s always doing a play. But also, I think he feels like that’s our special thing.”

The following month, Broderick addressed the situation during his own “WWHL” appearance. When asked if it bothered him that his wife brings Cohen to the Met Gala instead of him, the actor said, “No, ’cause you love it, right? And you’re great friends.” It’s also worth noting, Cohen is good friends with Broderick as well, so it’s not as if Parker ditches her husband to meet up with the Bravo host. All three have been spotted hanging out together on several occasions. This is a non-issue.

Aside from the Met Gala, Parker attends tons of events with her husband, so the tabloid’s claim that she usually leaves him home with the kids is also provably untrue. Last month, Parker brought Broderick to the premiere of her new movie Blue Night at the Tribeca Film Festival. The couple also attended the New York City Ballet’s 2017 Fall Fashion Gala, despite the magazine falsely claiming the actress won’t bring her husband to a “big event.” Regardless, Parker’s rep tells Gossip Cop on the record there’s no truth to the tabloid’s absurd story.
