Prince Philip‘s sudden hip replacement surgery was successful, RadarOnline.com has learned, but his health struggles aren’t over yet.
The 96-year-old Duke of Edinburgh underwent the complex procedure at King Edward VII Hospital in London this Tuesday, April 3.
“The Duke of Edinburgh has undergone a successful hip replacement operation,” said Buckingham Palace in a statement this Wednesday. “He is progressing satisfactorily at this early stage.”

As Radar readers know, however, the surgery is just the latest ailment to affect the aging ruler.
Philip was hospitalized with a severe infection last June. Just one month earlier, the Palace announced Queen Elizabeth‘s longtime husband would be retiring from his royal duties after serving over 70 years in public service.
Though Prince Philip continues to battle various ailments at the time, Buckingham Palace confirmed he is resting comfortably, for now.

“His Royal Highness is likely to remain in hospital for several days. He is comfortable and in good spirits,” read their royal statement.
