Meghan Markle Wedding Pressure Making Her Sick?

Is wedding “pressure” making Meghan Markle sick? A new tabloid cover story alleges the bride-to-be is so stressed over her impending nuptials to Prince Harry that she’s becoming “physically ill.” But Gossip Cop can debunk the untrue report.
The new cover of Woman’s Day New Zealand announces, “She’s Can’t Cope! Meghan’s Wedding Crisis: Tears, Tension & Tantrums.” To support the premise, the gossip magazine features a large photo of the actress crying while wearing a wedding dress. While this might seem like evidence of purported marriage-related tears, the picture is actually from Markle’s role on “Suits” and has nothing to do with her wedding to Prince Harry. The outlet is shamefully trying to trick readers.
With that deception in mind, consider the story inside the issue, which is headlined, “Snubs, Sickness & Stress: Meghan’s Wedding Nightmare.” The publication further teases, “Friends fear for her health as the big day looms.” The article specifically alleges Markle is “struggling with the stress of ongoing scandals and the demands of planning the big event… In fact, the pressure has gotten so bad, it’s made her physically ill.” The tabloid maintains she’s been suffering from “insomnia, crippling stomach pains, mood swings and a lack of appetite, all of which she blames on the stress of the upcoming wedding.”
“The entire planning process has been extremely stressful for Meghan and she’s taken little pleasure from it at all. At times, it’s even made her physically sick,” a so-called “palace insider” is quoted as saying. This supposed snitch claims Markle has been having “breakdowns behind closed doors,” and contends that “on a couple of her wobbliest moments, she’s even contemplating calling the whole thing off.” Consequently, it’s alleged she and Prince Harry have had “some tense rows.” Yet at the same time, the magazine asserts Markle “insists on remaining extremely hands-on in every part of the process,” despite the purported “pressure” and sickness.
One would think that if Markle was so ill, she wouldn’t be able to be “extremely hands-on” with the wedding preparations. Similarly, if she’s having “crippling stomach pains,” how did Markle manage to fly from London to Chicago and back just last week? It is unlikely she would’ve been permitted to fly in such a state. Additionally, Markle showed no signs of illness earlier this month when she and Prince Harry attended the Invictus team trials.
And in further proof that Markle is well, Kensington Palace announced on Twitter on Tuesday that she and Prince Harry will be attending an event together this Saturday. They have another engagement scheduled for Monday as well. Obviously, if she were so sick and there really were “fears for her health,” she would not be making public appearances.
It is normal for brides to feel pressure in the lead-up to their weddings, and it’s not implausible to suggest that a royal wedding is more stressful than ordinary nuptials. But it seems the tabloid has taken that narrative to the extremes, and far from having substantiation, there’s plenty of counter-proof readily available. Furthermore, Gossip Cop also spoke with a Kensington Palace staffer, who wasn’t authorized to comment on the record, as is often the case. This high-level employee confirmed to us on background that the claims in this cover story are untrue.
