There were countless rumors surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding, particularly in the days before the big event. With the nuptials now over, Gossip Cop is separating fact from fiction one more time. Check out our royal roundup of falsehoods below.

FICTION: Meghan Markle had a secret maid of honor, according to RadarOnline.
FACT: The site claimed to have “secret details” about the wedding, namely that stylist Jessica Mulroney “landed the honor of acting as the future princess’ maid of honor.” But as Gossip Cop pointed out, it had already been announced by Kensington Palace days prior that Markle would not have a maid of honor at her wedding. A spokesperson explained, “She has a very close-knit circle of friends and she didn’t want to choose one over another.” Mulroney was indeed at the nuptials, but she did not serve as maid of honor, nor did anyone else.

FICTION: According to In Touch, Meghan Markle is pregnant with Prince Harry’s baby.
FACT: The tabloid’s cover story alleged the couple was “actively trying to conceive,” and that “some of Meghan’s closest friends” believed she was “already expecting a little prince or princess” before the wedding. The magazine even claimed she was undergoing “top-secret, last-minute gown fittings to accommodate her changing waistline.” But as opposed to having her gown let out to make room for a growing baby bump, The Sun had already reported that Markle’s dress was altered due to weight loss and had to be taken in “several times,” ruling out a blossoming pregnancy.

FICTION: Prince Harry went missing days before the wedding, according to OK!.
FACT: The outlet bizarrely claimed the groom was “reported missing” after he snuck out for a secret shopping trip at TK Maxx, unbeknownst to Markle and his security detail. Of course, there were no photos of Prince Harry on this supposed outing, and royal protection officers are with him at all times, making the claim that security didn’t know his whereabouts implausible. Additionally, Gossip Cop spoke with spokespeople for the store, who had no knowledge of Prince Harry visiting, unlike in 2013, when his pop-in at the discount retailer was discussed by TK Maxx on Twitter and made international news.

FICTION: Angelina Jolie was in London for the royal wedding, according to the Daily Mail and Harper’s Bazaar.
FACT: Both took paparazzi photos of Jolie at Heathrow Airport and used them to speculate she was in the UK to attend the nuptials. The magazine further tried to argue the Oscar winner had connections to the royal family that warranted her being among the wedding guests, but its claims were flimsy and erroneous. Jolie was actually in London for work obligations that had nothing to do with the royal affair. And when the special day arrived, there were plenty of celebrity sightings outside the church, but Jolie was nowhere to been.

FICTION: According to Life & Style, Robert Pattinson was expected to attend the royal wedding.
FACT: The publication was the only outlet to allege, without evidence, that Pattinson “scored an invite” and needed a date. The actor was described as “super excited about being there to witness a part of history,” and it was speculated whether he’d bring FKA Twigs or Kristen Stewart as his “plus one.” His camp, however, never confirmed he would be at the milestone event, and as it turned out, he wasn’t. A number of top stars lined up for the wedding, from Oprah to George Clooney, but Pattinson was not among them.

FICTION: Pippa Middleton was not invited to the royal wedding, according to RadarOnline.
FACT: The blog insisted Markle had “snubbed” Middleton by leaving her off the guest list, upsetting her soon-to-be sister-in-law Kate in the process. The website tried to connect the decision to Markle not being invited to Middleton’s own nuptials last year. But as was widely reported at the time, the “Suits” star did attend that wedding reception with Prince Harry a year ago. And now, far from being “snubbed,” Middleton and the rest of her family were in attendance for Markle’s own big day. Middleton’s dress for the royal wedding even caused a stir on social media.

FICTION: Meghan Markle’s wedding gown was designed by Stella McCartney, according to the New York Post.
FACT: The paper claimed it could “reveal” the designer behind the bride’s dress one day before she was set to walk down the aisle. After alleging McCartney was the fashion maven selected for the coveted gig, the publication asserted she had “rapidly become one of the favorites to design Meghan’s gown, despite weeks of speculation that Ralph & Russo had won the job.” But this was a bit off. Markle’s wedding dress was actually designed by Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy. For a nighttime party hosted by Prince Charles, she changed into a McCartney creation.

Now that they’re finally married and the wedding hoopla is dying down, Markle and Prince Harry’s lives will regain some semblance of normalcy in the days ahead. But Gossip Cop expects the tabloids and its ilk to keep churning out misinformation, whether it be about the couple’s upcoming honeymoon or their early days as newlyweds.
