Mandy Moore’s ‘This Is Us’ Success Making Jessica Simpson Jealous?

Jessica Simpson is not jealous of Mandy Moore’s success on the hit NBC show “This Is Us,” despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the nonexistent drama. We’re told there’s no truth to it.

According to OK!, Simpson and Moore have been frenemies since the early 2000’s when they both emerged on the scene as pop stars. An alleged insider tells the magazine that the two “were always pitted against each other” back in the day, so it’s especially troubling for Simpson to see her peer land a hit series. “Jessica sees Mandy on billboards all over L.A., and it’s like a slap in the face,” adds the supposed source.

The questionable tipster further contends that Simpson, who’s most prominent acting role was in the 2005 remake of The Dukes of Hazzard, is resentful “she was never taken seriously as an actress.” As the story goes, the singer’s husband Eric Johnson tries to reassure his wife of her success, but Simpson still “complains about Mandy to anyone who’ll listen.” The “insider” concludes, “Jessica’s always wanted Hollywood credibility, and it hurts her to see that Mandy’s got it.”

Gossip Cop, however, has learned this is all highly inaccurate. For starters, sources close to both Simpson and Moore assure us they’ve never been in a feud. We’re told there’s only been friendly exchanges between the two when they’ve crossed paths over the years. Just because both former pop stars rose to fame around the same time doesn’t mean they were rivals.

Additionally, Simpson isn’t interested in acting these days. The singer-turned-businesswoman runs a major fashion line that brings in more than $1 billion in annual revenue. The idea that she jealous of another person’s success simply isn’t true or logical. This is a non-story.

It’s worth noting, this also isn’t the first time we’ve had to call out OK! for wrongly alleging the singer has a poor attitude. Gossip Cop recently busted the tabloid for making up a story about Simpson being a mean “stage mom” who’s desperately trying to turn her two young kids into stars. This latest article involving a supposed jealousy of Moore and her “This Is Us” success is equally bogus.
