Luke Bryan is not officiating a supposed “summer wedding” for Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, despite a new claim. Gossip Cop can bust this wrong allegation. A tabloid is trying to twist a comment made in jest in order to support an already debunked cover story about the couple tying the knot.

Earlier this month, Life & Style falsely announced a “wedding & a baby” for Stefani and Shelton. The bogus report claimed the songstress was not only expecting, but planning to walk down the aisle this summer in either Tulum or Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Aside from being unable to narrow down the location, the gossip magazine also couldn’t give a specific date. That’s because all of the contentions were fabricated. A rep for Stefani told Gossip Cop on the record that the “wedding and a baby” narrative was “untrue.” But despite the claims being phony, the outlet is now recycling them and piling on more falsehoods.

Here’s why: At Sunday’s ACM Awards, Bryan joked about Shelton marrying Stefani “before she goes to an optometrist.” He made the playful dig after “Entertainment Tonight” host Nancy O’Dell suggested the couple do a “quickie” wedding in Las Vegas, where the awards ceremony was being held. Bryan in turn cracked, “I’ll do the sermon. I would be honored to marry Blake and Gwen.”

So now, based on that light-hearted chat, Life & Style is announcing on its website, “Luke Bryan Offers to Officiate Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s Summer Wedding!” The accompanying article similarly asserts, “Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are preparing to walk down the aisle this summer — and their good friend Luke Bryan just offered to officiate their wedding!” But that’s really not what happened at all. As seen in video of the exchange (linked above), absolutely nothing was said about Shelton and Stefani having a “summer wedding” that Bryan would officiate.

The publication is shamefully twisting what was actually said in a transparent attempt to support its storyline about a “summer wedding” in Mexico, even though Stefani’s own spokesperson has already called such purported plans “untrue.” Furthermore, in an interview just a few days ago, Shelton admitted that while he thinks about marrying Stefani, he stressed, “I don’t think it’s any time soon or anything.” That’s further confirmation that a “summer wedding” isn’t in the works.

When both Stefani’s rep and Shelton himself are on the record denying there are upcoming wedding plans, the tabloid has no business continuing to flood the internet with its obvious lies. But as long as the magazine keeps spreading fiction, Gossip Cop will keep highlighting the facts. And should the couple one day eventually tie the knot with Bryan’s help, we’ll have the real details. But this spin is wildly inaccurate.
