Kourtney Kardashian did not tell Sofia Richie to “back off” her kids, despite reports. Gossip Cop can debunk the stories. The claims about Scott Disick’s ex-girlfriend and current girlfriend are provably untrue.
According to sister outlets RadarOnline and Star, Kardashian isn’t happy about Richie spending time with her three children. Both the website and the tabloid quote a so-called “source” as saying, “Kourtney flipped out and [said] Sofia needs to back the [expletive] off right now before she makes her back off.” The supposed snitch goes on to contend that Richie, however, “doesn’t care,” and isn’t “going to change the way that she acts towards Mason, Penelope or Reign because of their mom’s [expletive].”
The site and the gossip magazine even assert Richie has told the children that they “can call her ‘step mom Sofia’ if they want.” The publications also allege the “warped love triangle” has “landed Sofia a ‘KUWTK’ contract,” and the aforementioned “source” further claims Richie knows she’s “getting paid more to be on the show than Kourtney’s boyfriend,” Younes Bendjima. That leads the questionable insider to declare that Richie believes “she has Kris [Jenner] on her side.”
But Richie has actually yet to appear on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” and E! has not made any kind of announcement that she’s now a contracted cast member. To date, the romance has only come up one February episode, where Disick tried to avoid discussing his relationship with Richie out of “respect” for Kardashian. While it’s possible the model could cameo on the next season of the reality show, a premiere date for new episodes hasn’t even been announced.
More egregious, of course, are the claims about Kardashian supposedly trying to keep Richie away from her children. If that were actually the case, the reality star never would’ve permitted Disick and Richie to take her sons and daughter on a spring break trip to Mexico this past week. Disick and Kardashian have no formal custody arrangement, but as the primary caregiver, she simply could have put on the kibosh on the joint getaway. Instead, she not only gave her approval , but Kardashian herself then went on a trip with Bendjima.
These stories about a purported dispute came out right when the Mexican vacation was revealed, and it was reported that Disick, Richie and the kids flew to Cabo on Monday. It makes zero sense, then, for the tabloid and the blog to claim to have a “source” on Wednesday, when these tales were published, alleging Kardashian has ordered Richie to “back off.” But there’s another reason the timing of these contentions show that they’re false.
In February, more than a month before the trip, People reported that because “Sofia spends a lot of time at Scott’s… Kourtney allowed her to meet the kids,” and they had already spent time together “a few times.” It is therefore implausible to claim Kardashian is now telling Richie to stay away. It’s obvious the outlets don’t have their facts straight nor do they have real inside information, just like when it was wrongly claimed last fall that both Richie and Kardashian wanted to have a baby with Disick. Nearly six months later, neither star is pregnant. In any case, Gossip Cop is told by a confidante that Kardashian doesn’t have a problem with Richie being around the kids as long she continues to be a “positive influence” on Disick, as she has been so far.
