Kanye West does not want Donald Trump to be the godfather of his daughter Chicago, despite a report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this story. A rep for the rapper tells us the claim is untrue and absurd.
According to In Touch, West has a “big request for the president.” A so-called “source” claims the performer is “considering asking POTUS to be Chicago’s godfather.” The supposed snitch contends that since West “loves, respects, and admires Trump,” he “feels a man of his prestige and power would be a perfect influence in [his] children’s lives.” Notably, the tabloid doesn’t mention who is the godfather of West’s older kids, North and Saint.
Instead, the gossip magazine goes on to assert wife Kim Kardashian is “completely opposed to the idea” of Trump becoming her baby’s godparent. Though she is said to be “telling Kanye that he needs to choose somebody else,” the alleged insider maintains West is “adamant that he wants to ask Trump and it’s resulted in them having a huge blowout argument.” Curiously, the outlet doesn’t say when this purported fight took place, but its questionable insider further claims, “Trump is a huge no no for Kim but Kanye’s really a huge fan and supporter of his and that’s a bone of contention in their marriage.”
It is true the reality star is not a Trump supporter, unlike her husband. But as of now, that is not actually a “bone of contention” in their relationship. In fact, on Wednesday Kardashian expressed via Twitter her support for West and his embrace of Trump. “Now when he spoke out about Trump… Most people (including myself) have very different feelings & opinions about this. But this is HIS opinion,” she wrote, stressing, “I believe in people being able to have their own opinions, even if really different from mine.”
In other words, the president isn’t coming between them at this point in time. That said, West is not pressuring Kardashian to make Trump the godfather of their infant daughter. It’s not even on the table as a possibility. A rep for West exclusively tells Gossip Cop this false narrative is “ridiculous.” West did call Trump “my brother” on Twitter, but he’s not actually looking to make him a part of their family.
Of course, this is hardly the first time In Touch has peddled untruths about these stars. Just last month, Gossip Cop pointed out a full year had passed since the tabloid wrongly claimed Kardashian and West were getting a “$300 million divorce.” That bogus tale was also based on an untraceable “source.” Retractions would be appropriate, but we won’t hold our breath.
