Jessica Simpson’s husband Eric Johnson is not urging her to diet and exercise because some people on social media are criticizing her weight. The claim comes from a tabloid that frequently prints lies about the singer. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this latest story, which Simpson’s rep tells us is false.
Earlier this month, Twitter trolls made nasty comments about the star’s figure after she was photographed in a bikini on a beach in the Bahamas. Some users speculated she was pregnant, while other commenters made even more insulting remarks. According to In Touch, Simpson’s husband is now pressuring her to lead a healthier lifestyle to avoid all of the scrutiny.
An alleged insider tells the magazine, “He’s tired of seeing her slammed for her figure. Eric thinks she’s sexy when she’s a little more voluptuous than usual. But he’s also pushing her to get back on the treadmill, work out with her trainer and start a new, cleaner diet.”
The outlet’s “source” is anonymous, untraceable and seemingly nonexistent. It’s also highly unlikely that a true friend of Simpson would talk to a tabloid about how her husband feels about her weight. Conversely, the singer’s own spokesperson tells Gossip Cop on the record there’s no truth to the magazine’s article. Johnson is very supportive of his wife and doesn’t allow social media chatter to affect their marriage.
Meanwhile, Simpson has discussed her fluctuating weight in past interviews, noting she’s “been every size” throughout her career, but that hasn’t changed her self-confidence. Last year, the singer created plus-size clothing for her fashion line, explaining, “It’s very important for me to let every woman feel included.” The singer clearly doesn’t care what random people on social media think about her body, and her husband doesn’t either.
Unfortunately, the singer’s weight has been a tabloid subject for quite some time. Earlier this month, Gossip Cop busted an outlet for falsely claiming that Simpson was depressed over her weight gain. As mentioned above, the singer is comfortable in her own skin. Additionally, Simpson has flaunted her body on Instagram several times this month alone, so it’s clear she’s perfectly happy with the way she looks.
Meanwhile, unreliable outlets such as the National Enquirer and RadarOnline have wrongly reported in recent weeks that Simpson is pregnant. These claims were based on nothing but the singer’s appearance. It’s unfortunate that Simpson’s weight is being attacked on social media, and the tabloids don’t need to make matters worse by getting in on the action.
