Jennifer Aniston did not confront Selena Gomez for spending time with Justin Theroux, despite a completely made-up report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. A rep for the actress tells us it’s false.

According to The Sun, Aniston recently called up Gomez to ask why she’s been hanging out with her estranged husband. The unreliable publication says the actress was particularly concerned about the rumors that the singer is dating Theroux. As Gossip Cop has repeatedly stated, however, Gomez isn’t romantically involved with the actor. Still, an alleged “insider” tells the newspaper that Aniston “felt betrayed” after seeing the two together.

The outlet’s questionable source adds, “She has been close to Selena for a few years and has taken her under her wing. But Jen has clearly been offended, which really affected Selena.” There are inaccuracies in this bogus article from the very start. The tabloid wrongly states that the singer and actor were “seen hanging out together in Los Angeles” earlier this month, but Gomez and Theroux were actually spotted seeing a play in New York City. The outing was orchestrated by their shared manager, who joined them for the play, as did Paul Rudd, Rooney Mara, Petra Collins and several other friends. The singer and actor weren’t on a solo outing, and they haven’t been seen together since attending the show with the large group.

Considering that the outlet doesn’t know the correct coast where the singer and actor were spotted, it’s hard to believe any of its claims. Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Aniston, who confirms there’s no truth to the newspaper’s article. The actress never called Gomez and confronted her about hanging out with Theroux, nor would she have any reason to do so. As we’ve noted several times, Aniston’s estranged husband isn’t dating the singer.

In fact, Gossip Cop called out HollywoodLife earlier this month for making up a similarly false story about Aniston being “furious” over the dating rumors surrounding Theroux and Gomez. As with this latest article, the actress’s own spokesperson told us on the record it was completely false.

Meanwhile, Gossip Cop recently busted RadarOnline for making up a story about Aniston threatening Theroux to stay away from her friends, including Gomez. That article also failed to mention that the actor and singer were on a group outing with their mutual manager and several of her other clients. The Sun is now trying to put its own spin on the phony scenario with this nonsense about a confrontation that never happened.
