Jada Pinkett Smith Regrets Dating Will Smith While He Was Still Married
May 9, 2018While Jada Pinkett Smith has blissfully married to Will Smith for 20 years, she has a big regret about how their relationship started.
During the debut episode of the Girls Trip star’s Facebook talk show Red Table Talk, the 46-year-old sat down with her husband’s ex-wife, Sheree Fletcher, to open up about their past differences. Though they’re on good terms now, the mom-of-two admitted she had difficulties seeing things through Sheree’s eyes at first.
“Because I did not understand marriage, I did not understand divorce, I probably should have fell back,” the actress confessed, to which Sheree, 50, cracked, “You think?”

The two women also went into detail about one particular heated fight they had when Jada first started dating Will.
“Do you remember that conversation we had on the phone that time?” she asked. “It was fighting words.”
“Very few times in my life I can recall being checked real hard where I didn’t have nothing to say. You did that, but you weren’t out of line. You picked up the phone, and I wasn’t really respectful,” the Hollywood Exes alum — who was married to Will from 1992 to 1995 — responded, explaining she was caught off guard with Jada had answered the phone when she was calling Will’s house to speak with their shared son, Trey, now 25.

“You basically let me know, ‘I don’t really appreciate your tone’ … and you hung up on me,” Sheree remembered. “I called back and I happened to say, ‘B***h, you living in the house I picked out.’ And you said, ‘It’s my house now.’”
Despite Sheree admitting she was the one who may have instigated the argument, Jada said she was ultimately in the wrong for being rude. After all, she explained, she was speaking to the mother of one of Will’s children.
“Will Smith let me have it!” she recalled. “His take was, ‘That is Trey’s mother, and that’s just not your place.’”
“You always owned it,” Sheree said. “And thank you for that.”
