Is Khloe Kardashian banned from Cleveland Cavaliers games? That was a false rumor that first spread a year ago. With Tristan Thompson and the team once again in the playoffs, Gossip Cop is taking a look back at our debunking.
On May 23, 2017, we busted MediaTakeOut for wrongly announcing Kardashian had been “banned” from attending Cavaliers games. The site specifically pointed to a game that was actually held in Boston, where Thompson and the rest of the Cavs played the Celtics. With girlfriend Kardashian in Los Angeles at the time, the blog wrote, “In case you’re wondering why Khloe wasn’t there cheering him on… word is that she’s been banned.”
“Lebron James asked Tristan to ban the Kardashian from all remaining playoff games,” insisted the website. The outlet maintained the prohibition applied to the NBA finals as well. The online publication cited unspecified “reports” as the basis for its contentions, but a Google search indicated the claims originated with MTO. In fact, when lemmings like HollywoodLife also spread these allegations, they credited MediaTakeOut as the source. But none of the sites that copied the misinformation bothered to fact-check or do any investigating.
The lies were exposed when Kardashian and Kylie Jenner cheered on the Cavaliers just one day after the “banned” story was published. It was a prime example of why the website had long ago earned the nickname “MediaFakeOut.” Simply put, its articles are often fake. And time has since shown how badly the outlet screwed up 365 days ago.
In the wake of the allegation that James had banned her from not just the playoffs but also the championship round, Kardashian attended games three and four of the NBA finals last year. (The photo above is from game four on June 9, 2017.) Five months later, in November, Kardashian did a blog post all about her game-day rituals. And even after Thompson’s recent cheating scandal this spring, Kardashian showed up to a Cavaliers playoff game earlier this month to show her ongoing support.
She was also seen at a playoffs game this week, with the local Fox 8 news station posting Instagram video of the reality star inside Quicken Loans Arena on Monday. So, is Kardashian really banned from Cleveland Cavaliers games? The answer is clearly no, despite what MediaFakeOut wanted fans to believe a year ago. Of course, this is the same site that falsely claimed Kardashian and Thompson split 12 months ago. In neither case has the blog bothered to issue a correction.
