Is Heather Locklear joining “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”? A report claims the actress is in talks to become a cast member on the Bravo reality series. Gossip Cop looked into the story, however, and we’re exclusively told by a rep that it is untrue.
The article in question can be found in the pages of In Touch, which claims Locklear’s “post-rehab plans may include a turn on reality TV,” as she’s now allegedly in discussions to join the Beverly Hills edition of “Real Housewives.” A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying that producer Andy Cohen “has been after her to join the show for years.” After apparently turning down such opportunities in the past, the tabloid suggests “now may finally be the right time.”
“Her people think it might be a good way for her to stay accountable and sober,” claims the supposed source. That’s an odd comment given that the cast members on the show regularly drink alcohol, and “Real Housewives” has shown Kim Richards’ own struggle to stay sober while on the program. Still, the gossip magazine insists there’s “hope the reality show could be the start of a comeback for the star.”
Contends the alleged tipster, “She still has a huge fan base from her days on ‘Dynasty’ and ‘Melrose Place.’ She would make the perfect Housewife.” Gossip Cop isn’t sure how those roles ensure Locklear would be the “perfect Housewife.” Regardless, the outlet’s purported snitch maintains she is “deciding whether to join the show.” But Gossip Cop has learned there is nothing to decide. A spokesperson for Locklear exclusively tells us it’s “not true” she is in talks to join “RHOBH.”
It should also be noted that while “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” was renewed earlier this month for a ninth season, the eighth cycle hasn’t finished airing yet. Typically, casting decisions are made during the hiatus between seasons, not as one is still broadcasting. No matter, Locklear, who has never appeared on reality TV in the past, isn’t looking to join the program. She is instead focusing on her health out of the spotlight.
As of late March, Locklear was still in rehab and doing “really well,” People reported. The star sought treatment following a February arrest involving alleged domestic violence. Earlier this month, Locklear pleaded not guilty, through her attorney, to various charges, including battery on a peace officer. The next court date is set for June 7. Whatever happens, Bravo cameras won’t be documenting it.
