Harvey Weinstein’s Lawyer Claims The Producer Had A Consensual Relationship With His Rape Accuser For 10 Years

One woman who claimed Harvey Weinstein raped her in 2013 allegedly carried on a consensual sexual relationship with him for 10 years, according to the disgraced producer's attorney.

Ben Brafman spoke to reporters on Tuesday after a two-hour closed-door meeting with prosecutors and a judge where he complained that the publicity about the case could make potential jurors biased.

He also attempted to downplay the "absurd" rape charges by arguing that the unnamed accuser carried on a relationship with Weinstein — both before and after the alleged rape in a hotel room.

The movie mogul turned himself in to the police last week and was charged for rape, sexual abuse, and sexual misconduct. He is also charged with a criminal sex act against a different woman, Lucia Evans, who claimed he forced her to perform oral sex during a meeting at his office in 2004.

Weinstein is free on $1 million bail, but must wear an ankle monitor and stay in New York or Connecticut. He has until Wednesday to decide whether to testify in his own defense before the grand jury.
