Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton “Wedding & A Baby” Cover Story Is NOT True

A new tabloid cover story about Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton having a “wedding & a baby” is not true. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust the claims. The songstress is not pregnant, nor is she currently planning to marry Shelton in Mexico, contrary to the allegations.

The cover of Life & Style is extremely deceptive in multiple ways. Firstly, it is designed to make readers think that Stefani and Shelton have already tied the knot because she’s pregnant. “Quickie Beach Ceremony In Mexico After They Get The Happy News,” announces the cover line. To support both contentions, the main photo shows Stefani and Shelton as they walked on the beach during their January trip to Mexico. But the gossip magazine photoshopped the alcoholic beverage Stefani was holding out of her hand, since that would hurt the premise that she’s expecting. That the outlet would mislead readers in this way indicates that its story shouldn’t be trusted.

And after making it seem on the front of the issue like Stefani and Shelton have already wed, the article inside the edition changes course by asserting “a romantic destination wedding is in the works” for the future. On top of that, the publication contends, “Pals believe the pair are finally getting married because she’s pregnant more than two years after trying for a baby.” A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “[Gwen’s] dream is to marry Blake and have his child. And announcing her pregnancy to friends and family on the big day would make the wedding all the more special.”

To be clear, the tabloid has no confirmation that Stefani is indeed expecting. It is just going off what “pals” supposedly “believe,” and its “insider” acknowledges that there’s yet to be an actual announcement to “friends and family.” In another line later in the report, the phrase “if she’s pregnant” is yet another red flag.

As for the purported wedding, it’s claimed Stefani and Shelton settled on Mexico as the locale for their alleged nuptials after the aforementioned trip, but have yet to decide whether the event will be held in Tulum or Playa del Carmen. A “source” cited by the magazine maintains the wedding will take place “this summer,” but tellingly, no specific date is given. The guest list of just “22 friends” is said to include “Voice” coaches past and present, and it’s even asserted that both Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert have given their exes their “blessing.”

The outlet tries to add credence to its tale by peppering it with quotes from Shelton and Stefani. But neither star really spoke to the publication. Though these statements are often presented in the present tense (example: “says Blake”), they’re actually old and from their chats with other media properties. For example, Shelton is quoted as saying, “This bond that we formed when we found out what each other is going through, it’s still there.” That’s from Shelton’s “Sexiest Man Alive” cover story with People, which was released last November. Shamefully, Life & Style does not provide proper attribution for that, or any of the other stolen quotations.

In addition to leaving out key context, there’s also another glaring omission: Nothing is said about the tabloid’s July 2017 cover story that announced Stefani and Shelton were “married.” It was specifically claimed they “tied the knot” in the backyard of her home, with plans for a “much larger church wedding” later in the year. Of course, those claims don’t jive with these new ones. But they lead to a larger point: This magazine runs bogus marriage and pregnancy stories every year.

At no point has the outlet been right, which shows its “sources” and “insiders” aren’t well informed, if they even truly exist. It’s far more important to look at what the stars themselves have to say, and in a radio interview with 99.5 The Wolf last fall, Shelton specifically stated, “I don’t think we’re close to calling a wedding planner.” Between that, the photoshopped cover photo, the lack of actual confirmation about a pregnancy, the plagiarized quotes and the publication’s track record, it’s clear this “wedding & a baby” story is made-up fiction, not fact. Gossip Cop also checked in with a rep for Stefani, who exclusively tells us the report is “untrue.”
