Is George Clooney getting Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston back together? A report claims he’s boasting about reuniting the exes. Gossip Cop, however, can bust this untrue story.
The latest issue of New Idea features the phony headline, “George Speaks Out: I Got Brad & Jen Back Together!” There’s multiple falsehoods throughout the piece, beginning with the old, debunked claim that Angelina Jolie stopped Pitt from being friends with Clooney during their marriage. The tabloid uses that as a jumping-off point to assert that, in the wake of the Brangelina breakup, Pitt and Clooney have rebuilt their friendship to the point where Clooney is now telling pals he’s “responsible for encouraging Brad to reignite his romance” with Aniston.
The gossip magazine claims Clooney and Pitt were recently “spotted out” at a dinner with Sean Penn, Bradley Cooper and Laura Dern, where Clooney “didn’t hold back in telling dinner guests just how happy he is that Brad and Jen have reunited.” As for how, exactly, that reunion supposedly happened, the outlet cites a so-called “source,” who alleges Clooney first tried to “plant the seed about reaching out to Jen” following Pitt’s split from Jolie in 2016. Then, when he heard Aniston’s relationship with Justin Theroux was ending, Clooney “really stepped up efforts to reconcile the pair,” contends the purported tipster.
“Now it’s happened, he’s out there telling anyone who’ll listen that he’s responsible. He’s pretty chuffed about it,” the publication’s alleged snitch says of Clooney. But why wasn’t Aniston at the aforementioned gathering, too? The tabloid maintains the actress chose not to join them “to avoid any public scrutiny so soon after her official split” from Theroux, though it’s supposedly “believed she caught up with Brad and George later” when the men visited her home for a “nightcap.”
The magazine concludes by predicting “double dates with George, wife Amal and Brad and Jen to come.” Well, Gossip Cop predicts such outings won’t actually be happening, particularly since this tale is almost entirely made-up. While Pitt did have dinner with Penn, Cooper and Dern earlier this month, Clooney was not a part of the get-together. And the reason for the hangout had nothing to do with Pitt reconnecting with Clooney, who, again, was not present. In actuality, the stars stepped out for Penn’s book party.
New Idea has crafted a false narrative around something Clooney wasn’t even involved in, all for the sake of continuing its untrue storyline about two former spouses getting back together. As People has reported, a Pitt-Aniston reunion remains unlikely. And the notion that they’ve already reconciled thanks to Clooney is just laughable. It’s also 100 percent fabricated, Gossip Cop confirms with a Clooney confidante.
