Ellen DeGeneres, Portia De Rossi Marriage In Crisis As Host Ditches Wedding Ring?

Are Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi in a “marriage crisis”? A new report claims the couple is on the verge of a divorce because the talk show host was photographed without her wedding ring. Gossip Cop, however, can exclusively debunk the report.

“Host heaves wedding ring as they head toward $400M marriage crisis,” reads a teaser in the new edition of the National Enquirer. The supermarket tabloid contends, “Hollywood is rumbling that Ellen DeGeneres’ marriage to Portia de Rossi is in a rough patch after the talk show queen was busted in public with no ring and no wife.” The gossip magazine is referring to paparazzi photos of DeGeneres last month in which she wasn’t wearing her wedding band.

“All the signs of trouble are there,” claims a so-called “insider,” who alleges DeGeneres and de Rossi are “living in separate homes,” and that “when they do speak, it often ends up in an argument.” The supposed tipster maintains, “Ellen has stopped wearing her ring except when she’s on camera, and Portia has also neglected to wear hers at times.”

Consequently, it’s alleged “their friends are worried they’ll be the next celebrity couple to split,” and that “pals fear the A-listers are in a $400 million marriage crisis ahead of their [10th] wedding anniversary” in August. One of the outlet’s unnamed sources adds, “If they do split, it’s going to be a costly divorce.”

But the publication has been peddling phony narratives like this one for years, and it was more than 12 months ago that Gossip Cop corrected the tabloid for falsely claiming de Rossi had moved out of their home, “setting the stage for a blockbuster $350 million divorce.” That divorce never happened, and one isn’t in the works now just because the magazine upped the dollar amount to $400 million. This particular angle about DeGeneres going without her ring isn’t even original, nor is it proof of an impending split.

Nearly a year ago, In Touch insisted DeGeneres and de Rossi were getting a divorce because the TV personality was photographed without her wedding ring. Not only did Gossip Cop bust that tale when it came out, but time has shown that whether or not DeGeneres has the piece of jewelry on her finger is not a barometer for the state of her marriage. As opposed to there being “signs of trouble” between the couple, as claimed above, there are actually many indications that they’re still going strong.

Last month, when Gwen Stefani discussed on “The Ellen Show” marriage rumors about herself and Blake Shelton, DeGeneres shared, “I love being married.” She also sarcastically noted in regards to the rumor mill, “I know that the tabloids are 100 percent accurate with everything they say.” Additionally, DeGeneres has posted on Instagram about de Rossi several times in the last week alone, including one message that noted “my wife” was preparing to expand her art business.

Also this week DeGeneres and de Rossi stepped out together for a date night, with the Daily Mail observing how they looked “smitten.” Indeed, a DeGeneres confidante, who was not authorized to speak on the record, confirms to Gossip Cop, “They’ve literally never been happier.” Perhaps the National Enquirer should stop wrongly tearing them apart.
