“It was a hobby and a passion of mine for a really long time but it never seemed like it could be anything serious for me. I came from singing at places where people were talking over me and now I’m on live TV.”
Being the youngest winner on ‘The Voice,’ do you think that you’ve paved the way for a lot of younger artists?
Brynn: You know, I do. I do hope that there are a lot of younger artists that feel inspired by this and come on the show and succeed because, I mean, it’s part of making the history. It’s really hard to do that nowadays, but I think this younger generation is bringing a really strong force into the world of music.
When you auditioned for The Voice, Kelly Clarkson said, “I could win with you.” How does that feel coming so far since she said that?
Brynn: When she said that, I don’t really remember it. I watch my blind [audition] a lot so I remember from that, but the fact that she made that prediction from the beginning, I never really believed it.
What was it like having so many people believing that you could win?
Brynn: I’m really lucky to have a really strong positive group of fans that really support me and my music. They put it out there and they spread the word. It’s really, really special, and I’m so lucky to have a really great support system. It’s been really amazing.
What’s your favorite song that you sang during your season?
Brynn: I think my favorite song that I sang on the show is ‘Fix You’ [by Coldplay]. It’s a really big one for me.
Do you have any future music plans you can share with us?
Brynn: I want to get music out as soon as possible. I mean, I have some ideas and I’m super excited about it!
Do you have any advice for our readers who may want to pursue music?
Brynn: In anything that you do, whether it’s in music or art, sports, or whatever someone is pursing, just don’t give up on it. I mean, that sounds so cliche, but it’s true. So, I think just working really hard at something that you love and not giving up on it. I mean, if you’re working on it, it’s going to be worth it in the end.
