A report claiming Brad Pitt is getting “sobriety support” from Neri Oxman is completely untrue. The article, which also falsely claims the actor and MIT professor are dating, is fabricated. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight.

In an interview with GQ last year, Pitt revealed he quit drinking and smoking pot in the wake of his divorce from Angelina Jolie. The movie star admitted he was “boozing too much” during his marriage and it “became a problem.” The actor has been sober for more than two years now, but RadarOnline is wrongly reporting that his “new girlfriend” Oxman plays a role in his recovery.

“Neri would not date him if he was drinking or using,” a so-called “source” tells the blog. “She is about as straight-laced as they come… Neri is a firm believer that people should not put anything into their bodies that does not belong.” The outlet’s questionable source further maintains that Oxman “has been a great influence on Brad” and helps him stay clean.

The story is based on a false premise from the get-go considering that Pitt isn’t romantically involved with the professor. As Gossip Cop has stressed, and as the actor’s own spokesperson has confirmed, Pitt and Oxman are strictly friends. Reputable outlets such as E! News, People and Vanity Fair have all backed up this point.

As for the idea that Oxman has anything to do with Pitt’s sobriety, that simply isn’t the case. A mutual pal of ours and the actor tells us on the condition of anonymity that she’s not involved in that aspect of his life. Pitt and Oxman have a professional friendship, which began when the two collaborated on an MIT architecture project last year.

Additionally, the movie star has plenty of support when it comes to his sobriety. Us Weekly reported earlier this year that Pitt “goes to therapy every week” as part of his recovery process. Regardless, all of the site’s claims involving Oxman are bogus.

Unfortunately, RadarOnline has been wrongly insisting that Pitt and Oxman are a couple ever since the news broke that he visited her class at MIT last year. Gossip Cop recently called out the blog for falsely claiming that the pair were planning a “summer getaway” to Europe. Shortly before that, the site made up a story about Pitt going back to school to impress the professor. This latest article in the phony saga is equally false.
