Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross are not having problems, despite a completely false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. A rep for the singer tells us it’s “100 percent untrue.”
“Ashlee & Evan Hit A Rough Patch” reads a headline in the latest issue of OK! The accompanying article contends that the spouses of nearly four years have been growing apart over Ross’s busy work schedule. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “Evan had told Ashlee he’d try to travel less, so each new project he signs up for results in a fight.”
The seemingly phony insider says Simpson has “grown resentful” of having to care for their 2-year-old daughter while her husband “is on set somewhere, living out his dream.” The alleged tipster adds, “They’re putting on a brave face, but trouble’s been brewing for a while.”
But Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Simpson, who tells us on the record that the tabloid’s claims are “100 percent untrue.” We’re further told the singer and her husband have “never been more in love.” As for the bogus assertion that Ross’s acting career has created a rift in their marriage, Simpson’s spokesperson exclusively tells us the spouses “have been writing and recording new music together to be released later this year.”
Additionally, Simpson and Ross looked very happy while on a lunch date in Los Angeles earlier this month. After publishing photos of the two on their outing, The Daily Mail noted that the singer “smiled adoringly at her husband” as they strolled through a parking lot. The outlet went on to say the pair seemed “relaxed and carefree,” which is apparent in the pictures, further noting that Simpson was clearly “enjoying her time out with her other half.”
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to debunk baseless rumors about the couple’s marriage being in jeopardy. In December, Gossip Cop busted OK!’s sister outlet, Star, for making up a story about Simpson and Ross getting into a “huge fight” before the American Music Awards. Meanwhile, we also called out the magazine last year for falsely alleging that Simpson gets “nonstop plastic surgery.”
The publication’s new tale of marital drama is based on an anonymous, untraceable and seemingly nonexistent “insider,” but the singer’s own rep tells Gossip Cop there’s no validity to it. We look forward to the release of Simpson and Ross’s new music for further confirmation they’re very happily married.
