Anthony Hopkins DGAF About Whether He Has Grandchildren Or Not

People indicates that 80-year-old Anthony Hopkins has reached the Quincy Jones “who gives a fuck what I say in an interview?” phase of life, as he is about as pleasant as any of the characters he plays in movies and TV. Anthony did a new interview with Radio Times, where he briefly talked about how he hasn’t had any kind of relationship with his estranged daughter Abigaul for years. Anthony has no idea if Abigail has children, and he doesn’t care to know either.
When asked if he has grandchildren, Anthony said:
“I don’t have any idea. People break up. Families split and, you know, ‘Get on with your life.’ People make choices. I don’t care one way or the other.”
I bet Anthony figured out how much money he had saved over the years by not buying presents for the grandkids and wants to keep it that way. Abigail, who is 48, is Anthony’s only daughter and is from his first marriage to Petronella Barker. He is believed to have walked out on them when Abigail was super young. Father and daughter briefly reconnected in the 90s, and he even got her two cameos in two of his movies, but they have gone their separate ways again. The interviewer called Anthony out for being a bit too frosty, and he replied, “Well, it is cold. Because life is cold.” Brrrr!
Another People story brought up an old Telegraph article from when Abigail was 18 and said she experimented with booze and drugs, something she thought she inherited from her dad (he has been a recovering alcoholic since 1975). She was very upfront about her battles but also added that it was a brief time stemming from anger. She’s since gone on to become a singer-songwriter, actress, and acting coach. Anthony told Howard Stern in 2002 they rarely spoke and that “Life is life. You get on with it.” Maybe she just really doesn’t understand Westworld like the rest of us and is too afraid he’ll want to talk about it at the dinner table!
