Angelina Jolie Saving Johnny Depp?

Angelina Jolie is not coming to Johnny Depp’s “rescue,” despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this made up claim about the actress “saving” him. We’re told it’s untrue.

According to NW, Jolie is “horrified” Depp has taken such a “fall from grace” over the last few years and is “now stepping in to help him get better.” The tabloid notes that she’ll be spending the next few months “living in a gorgeous country house while she films Maleficent 2 in the UK,” and is “going to invite Johnny to join her.” A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “She hates how he seems to have lost any sense of self worth.”

Noting how they worked together on the 2010 film The Tourist, the tabloid alleges that “Johnny has been leaning on his costar amid a messy lawsuit with his former management team and claims that he attacked a crewmember on his new film LAbyrinth.” The alleged insider further contends, “Johnny has his demons and Angelina can understand that… They both have a dark side and Angelina knows what it’s like to have people see you as a villain.” The supposed tipster concludes, “She’s told Johnny that she’s got his back and he’s really grateful to have her on his side during this difficult time.”

It’s true the Pirates of the Caribbean star is in the midst of a lot of litigation. As widely reported, last year Depp sued his former managers and they filed a countersuit. The actor first alleged The Management Group, which represented him from 1999 to 2016, was guilty of mismanagement” and fraud, resulting in Depp having “lost tens of millions of dollars” and being “forced to dispose of significant assets to pay for TMG’s self-dealing and gross misconduct.” His former managers, however, countered that Depp’s financial issues were brought upon himself because of his alleged over-the-top spending, which included buying more than a dozen homes, a yacht, a tremendous amount of art, and even an island in the Bahamas.

And earlier this month, it was reported Depp attacked a crew member after allegedly drinking all day on the set of his upcoming film, LAbyrinth. The film’s director Brad Furman, however, downplayed the incident. He told Page Six, “Movies can be stressful, and nonevents often become exaggerated.”

While Depp’s legal woes are accurate, Jolie is not inviting Depp to live with her in England this summer while she films Maleficent 2. A Depp source, who wasn’t at liberty to comment on the record, tells Gossip Cop the tabloid’s tale is untrue. But even without our insider’s denial, it’s not feasible since Depp’s Hollywood Vampires band will be on tour throughout much of June and July, and he’s not crashing at Jolie’s home in between gigs.

Ever since Jolie and Brad Pitt split up, there have been a number of inaccurate reports linking her to Depp. Many have had different twists. In one story from The Sun, it was maintained Depp was consoling Jolie after she filed for divorce. Others alleged Depp and Jolie were dating, but we were repeatedly assured by both their camps that those claims were untrue, and time has proven us right.

Conclusion: Much like the past false reports tying Depp and Jolie to one another, she hasn’t invited him to stay with her in England. Although he’s had a number of legal issues, they’ve nothing to do with the Oscar-winning actress or her having Depp’s “back” because they both have a “dark side.” Additionally, he’ll be on the road with his bandmates Alice Cooper and Joe Perry for a good part of the time while Jolie’s making Maleficent 2. For those reasons alone, plus a Depp confidante pouring cold water on the claim, Gossip Cop is giving the story a 0 out of 10.
