Angelina Jolie is not dating a real estate agent, despite a false report that’s been widely picked up by the copy-and-paste gossip media. Gossip Cop can help set the record straight. The actress, who remains estranged from husband Brad Pitt, is single.

But ETOnline is citing a so-called “source,” who claims Jolie is “seeing” a love interest, though the dynamic supposedly isn’t “serious.” Still, the outlet maintains the romance “mark[s] her first potential relationship since calling it quits” with Pitt. Contends the alleged tipster, “She has been seeing a handsome, older-looking man who is a real estate agent. He isn’t a celebrity or high profile in any way.”

Tellingly, though, there’s a notable lack of key details. How did Jolie and this man meet? When did they start “seeing” each other? Is he based in Los Angeles? Is he a realtor in California? Has the guy met her kids? When do they hang out together? None of this pertinent context is provided. Rather, the aforementioned “source” just vaguely asserts, “Having another adult to spend time with has been helpful.”

Even though the claims were neither confirmed nor corroborated, a number of sites rushed to regurgitate them. Among the online publications that quickly picked up the dating contentions are HollywoodLife, The Sun and Perez Hilton, just to name a few. Gossip Cop, however, opted to investigate first, and no one with whom we spoke could verify the allegations. Now People has reported that Jolie is not actually dating or seeing anyone at all.

As the reputable magazine first noted back in January, Jolie simply isn’t interested in dating during this time in her life. On top of her career (she is slated to film Maleficent 2 this spring and is attached to The One And Only Ivan), she is busy co-parenting six children and working on the humanitarian causes that remain close to her heart. Jolie and Pitt are also still in negotiations on a divorce settlement. There isn’t exactly much free time to strike up a secret romance.

Of course, the tabloids have desperately been trying to link the Oscar winner to someone. In fact, it was less than two weeks ago that Gossip Cop busted Life & Style for a cover story that ridiculously claimed Jolie was getting married to “husband number four.” Her purported fiancé was said to be a “millionaire British philanthropist.” In actuality, he was figment of the magazine’s imagination. But whereas the publication clearly made that nonexistent relationship up, it seems “ET” may have just gotten some bad misinformation here.
