Angelina Jolie Never Had Wedding In Cambodia, One Year After False Report

A tabloid story published this time last year claimed Angelina Jolie was having a “wedding in Cambodia.” Gossip Cop corrected the false article when it first emerged. Now the passage of time has backed up our debunking and proven the allegation was nothing more than a fabrication.

On May 24, 2017, In Touch alleged in a cover story that Jolie had “quietly fallen for a wealthy 40-something British philanthropist and businessman,” and was “eager to marry for the fourth time as soon as her divorce from Brad [Pitt] is finalized.” The publication didn’t provide any specifics about the purported groom, but still quoted a so-called “source” and “family friend” as saying, “All systems are go for the wedding to take place on her new property” in Battambang. The magazine’s insider further claimed the wedding would be a “small outdoor ceremony,” with food and decorations reflecting Cambodian culture.

As Gossip Cop pointed out at the time, the outlet had completely manufactured this narrative out of thin air. We had already reported that the “wealthy 40-something British philanthropist and businessman,” a character used in a variety of gossip articles, simply didn’t exist, at least not in the actress’s life. In fact, just before we busted the tabloid’s wedding report, Gossip Cop was exclusively assured by a source in close contact with the star, who declined to speak on the record, that rumors of Jolie having a British boyfriend were entirely “untrue.”

That became readily apparent when Jolie never stepped out with such a beau, let alone married one. And months later, with the star still single, it was confirmed by People that Jolie wasn’t interested in dating at all. Instead, it was reported that she wanted to focus primarily on her six children and her career, which remains the case today. On Wednesday, amid a slew of new dating rumors that were just as bogus as this wedding storyline from 12 months ago, Gossip Cop was told Jolie is simply “amused” by the tabloids romantically linking her to random people.

Our confidante explained that while Jolie generally doesn’t pay much attention to the rumors written about her, she doesn’t quite understand the gossip media’s continued fixation on her love life. Besides the nonexistent British fiancé, the tabloids have also tried to put the Oscar winner in relationships with an unnamed real estate agent, stars like Garrett Hedlund, and even a Cambodian rapper named PraCh Ly. Each and every one of these tales was easily debunked.

And while she may end up marrying again one day, there’s no disputing that Jolie did not have a Cambodian wedding in the last 365 days. On top of that, Jolie and Pitt are still working on a divorce settlement and the dissolution of their marriage has not been finalized. Until then, the actress can’t marry again even if she wanted to, regardless of what magazines like In Touch want readers to believe.
