Amber Rose Gets Candid About Kanye vs. Trump, Rape Culture, SlutWalk and 21 Savage
May 18, 2018Amber Rose Gets Candid About Kanye vs. Trump, Rape Culture, SlutWalk and 21 Savage
"When I first saw Trump on the podium running for president, I was like, 'Oh, my God — that is Kanye in a white man's body,'" Amber Rose says.
Amber Rose had so much to say to Jesse Lee Peterson on the season premiere of "The Fallen State."
Although initially reluctant to chat with Peterson, who Amber believes is a "misogynistic, egotistical man," she did end up opening up about a variety of intense topics, ranging from ex-boyfriend Kanye West's support of President Donald Trump, to Trump's alleged history of sexual misconduct, to her relationship with now-ex-boyfriend rapper 21 Savage, to how the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements tie into her annual Amber Rose SlutWalk.

"We were so petty to each other this whole interview," Amber captioned a snippet of the interview she shared on Instagram. "But this has to be one of my favorite interviews of all time. It's very rare that I sit down with a misogynistic, egotistical man [who] challenges my views on women and being a feminist, but if you know anything about me, you should know I love a good, petty cat fight every now and then — and I LOOOVE a challenge."
We condensed Amber's hour-long interview with Peterson into seven nuggets below.

On Kanye's Support of Trump
Peterson asked Amber what she thought of Kanye's support of Trump, who Peterson referred to as "The Great White Hulk." She took a deep breath, cleared her throat and said, "Wow, this got deep really fast."
"This is gonna take a good 5 minutes 'cause ima talk to you," she said. "When I first saw Trump on the podium running for president, I was like, 'Oh, my God — that is Kanye in a white man's body!' I really felt like they have the same personality, like, completely the same personality."
"I would like to think — and this is hypothetically speaking — I would like to think that Kanye met with Trump, and Trump said, 'Look, I seen these people, I knew they were gonna vote for me, and I used them to get elected, and I can't tell nobody that 'cause I wanna get a second term, but now that I'm in office, I really wanna make a change,'" Amber said. "Now, Kanye can't snitch on him, he can't snitch on himself, so maybe he's thinking of the greater good of what Trump can do for the country? That's what I'm assuming."
"Kanye's the type of person that he loves art, and he loves the art in things, so I think that he appreciates the politics that Trump used in order to get in office," she said. "Because Trump was a Democrat for like 30 years I heard, so I can only hope that Trump kind of used the white people — seemingly racist white people — to get in office maybe for the greater good. I don't know."
Why Trump Is a 'Sexual Predator'
"I think he's a sexual predator," Amber said without batting an eyelash. "I feel bad for Melania. I want her to get a divorce and become an activist."
Peterson asked Amber why she thought Trump was a sexual predator.
"First of all, I'm a feminist," she said. "I believe women all the time. I give women the benefit of the doubt."
"Even when they're lying? Peterson asked.
"When people say that, I'm like, 'Look, sometimes there's just not good people in the world and they lie for the wrong reasons — for money or whatever — but when there's more than one woman with the same story and these women don't know each other, they don't want money, they want justice, that's when I feel like, OK, this is probably real."
Peterson pressed Amber, asking why she believes Trump's accusers and not Trump.
"Well, the fact that he said he goes and just randomly grabs women by their pussy," she replied. "That was very offensive to me because I've been in those situations with very powerful men feeling like they can come and touch me inappropriately without consent. And that's what happens a lot with powerful men, rich men, men in general because their parents didn't teach them about consent."

Amber Defines Today's Rape Culture
"The reason women don't want to speak out and the same reason why the women that have gotten raped by Bill Cosby didn't come out for 20 years is because no one would believe them," Amber said during a long conversation with Peterson about today's rape culture. "In 1990, Bill Cosby was equivalent to Barack Obama. Now if Barack Obama raped me today, who do I call? Who will listen to me? No one because he is everyone's father figure. He is the classiest, most amazing person in the world. If he raped me, do I call 9-1-1? DO I call the FBI? They would laugh at me, and I would probably wait 20 years until another woman comes out and says, you know what? He raped me. And I say, I can't let her do this alone. I have to now speak up."
Amber Defines Today's 'Slut'
"If you look in the dictionary, the definition of a slut, it starts out and it says, 'A woman that is promiscuous, has a lot of sexual partners,'" Amber explained. "But it never said 'a person.' So what happens is men can go out and be sexually liberated and have a bunch of women, but if a woman does it, there's all these derogatory labels that come with that, which is an extreme form of bullying for us, just like the gay community had to deal with all kinds of homosexual slurs, which in turn made people kill themselves. It's the same thing we deal with as women when we deal with whore, slut, ho."
"What I do is I embrace the derogatory labels and give women confidence," she said. "I went through a divorce and then I started dating after that. So it's like, if going out on a date with a guy makes me a slut then that's just what I'm gonna be."
"I don't think going out on a date makes you a slut, but having sex with different men makes you a slut," Peterson said.
"What does it make you if you have sex with different women?" Amber asked.
"A slut maker," he replied.

Amber Loves 21 Savage
Peterson said his "heart broke" when he saw Amber's then-boyfriend 21 Savage holding up a sign at the 2017 SlutWalk that read, "I'm a ho, too."
"He is the most secure man I have ever met in my life for saying that, and I'm gonna tell you why," Amber responded. "If he can go out and he can sleep with an abundance of women, he is not labeled a ho; he is labeled a man. For me, I can sleep with three guys, and I'm labeled a ho. So he's basically saying, 'If she's a ho, I'm a ho, too.' That's it. I love 21 Savage for that. I thought it was amazing. He didn't give two shits. Nope, he didn't care."
What Was It Like Dating Kanye West?
Amber said she and Kanye are no longer friends but that they were for a period of time after they broke off their 2-year relationship.
Peterson, very obviously, had no knowledge of Amber's relationship with Kim Kardashian's now-husband. He asked Amber what it was like dating Kanye.
"It was a fun time," she said. "I was young. I mean, I'm still young, but I was younger. We had a lot of amazing times together."
Kanye's Epic 2009 Taylor Swift Snide
Peterson asked Amber if she was surprised when Kanye jumped on stage at the 2009 MTV VMA Awards while Taylor Swift was accepting the award for Best Video of the Year.
"I was surprised because he didn't tell me he was going on stage, and I kind of looked up and was like, 'Wow, this is happening,'" she said. "Was I surprised? No, I wasn't surprised because he's a very artistic, passionate person. I've said this before and I'll say it again 8 years later, 7 years later: It wasn't about Taylor Swift. He didn't have any animosity towards her. He just felt like 'Single Ladies' the video should have won. So it wasn't against Taylor Swift. I think that people kind of bullied him after that, like he was being mean to her, when it wasn't really about her."
"I'll be honest, it happened so fast, and then I just had to take care of him after that," Amber added.
