May 22, 2018We are all about that hair — and makeup too! Here at Stylish, we’ve never seen a hairstyle or makeup trend we couldn’t talk about for days on end, so we started a podcast to dish on all the latest beauty news — from hits and misses on the red carpet to celebrity hair and makeup gurus’ dos and don’ts. This week, Gwen and senior reporter Travis Cronin welcomed Us Weekly editor-in-chief Jennifer Peros to the show to talk all things Royal Wedding. Jen was in Windsor for the big day and watched the newly minted Duke and Duchess of Sussex (a.k.a. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) ride through the streets in their horse-drawn carriage just moments after tying the knot. From Meg’s otherworldly glow and much talked about undone hairstyle to the best dressed — and tressed — guests, the Us Weekly team broke it all down.

While Meghan’s custom Givenchy by Clare Waight Keller gown was simply sophisticated, the newly-minted Duchess opted to stay close to her California girl roots with her beauty look. The former actress’ longtime friend and makeup artist Daniel Martin (clients include Elisabeth Moss and Jessica Alba) was responsible for her glowing complexion that showed off her freckles.

A demi-matte pink lip, meanwhile, served as a bit of a departure from her go-to neutral hue, but it was the perfect addition to her low-key glam look. Gwen, Travis and Jen agreed that the makeup very much felt like a natural extension of the bride, but they were a bit more divided on her hair.
Celeb hairstylist Serge Normant (the mane man behind Sarah Jessica Parker and Julia Roberts’ famous locks) crafted a glossy chignon to complement the jaw-dropping Queen Mary bandeau tiara Meghan borrowed for the big day. Rocking her signature center-part, many spectators couldn’t help but notice a few face-framing pieces had come loose during the ceremony and some wondered whether it was intentional.

Serge has since explained that he and Meg were going for a more undone look in keeping with her personal style, and while the Us Weekly team agreed that the ‘do on its own was beautiful, Jen felt like it didn’t quite match the feel of the dress.
