Alex Rodriguez did not propose to Jennifer Lopez with the help of his two daughters and her twins, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this story. Reps for both the singer and former MLB star tell us they’re not engaged.

According to Star, the ex-Yankee popped the question to his girlfriend over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, but he didn’t do it alone. As the story goes, Rodriguez had his daughters Natasha, 13, and Ella, 9, and Lopez’s 10-year-old twins Max and Emme help with the proposal. “Word is they all worked together to bake Jennifer a cake and wrote, ‘Will you marry me?’ in icing,” a so-called “source” tells the magazine.

The questionable insider also says Rodriguez placed a $5 million, 9-carat ring on top of the cake “hoping to blow her away.” The seemingly phony tipster adds, “Friends expect she’ll make it a fairy-tale wedding, complete with a princess dress.” The alleged source further speculates that Lopez and Rodriguez might first “have a ceremony with just family,” but then travel to the French Riviera for “a huge wedding with plenty of glitz and glamour.”

But Gossip Cop checked in with Rodriguez’s spokesperson, who tells us the tabloid’s story is fabricated. A rep for Lopez similarly assures us her boyfriend hasn’t proposed. Also, neither the singer or athlete’s social media pages would indicate they’re engaged, despite the two usually being fairly open about their relationship. The tabloid claims the proposal went down over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, but during that time, Rodriguez only posted a funny video using a holiday-themed Snapchat filter.

It should be noted, Lopez and Rodriguez’s relationship is going very strong, so it’s entirely possible the two will get engaged sometime in the not-too-distant future. Sources recently told Entertainment Tonight that the pair has “discussed marriage.” Additionally, Lopez and Rodriguez recently bought a $15 million apartment in New York City, and it seems the two frequently blend their families. It won’t be a huge shock if they get engaged soon, but it simply didn’t happen earlier this month.

It’s also worth mentioning, Gossip Cop busted Star in January for wrongly reporting that Lopez was pregnant with Rodriguez’s baby. This latest article surrounding an engagement makes no mention of the supposed pregnancy. Clearly, the magazine has little credibility when it comes to the couple’s relationship.
