A new report claims Alex Rodriguez is saying “no” to marrying Jennifer Lopez because he’s got “cold feet,” but the entire article is made-up. Gossip Cop can correct this manufactured report. If anything, by Lopez’s own words, it’s she who’s reticent about rushing into another wedding.
According to the National Enquirer, Rodriguez has thrown Lopez “a wicked curveball.” The supermarket tabloid claims, “Alex has caught cold feet.” A so-called “source” is quoted as telling the magazine, “Alex is the one who poured cold water on the ‘I dos.’” The same unnamed “insider,” adds, “ A wedding would involve lawyers… They have both tried the marriage thing before, and it didn’t work.”
But it’s not a matter of the singer wanting to get married and the former baseball star having “cold feet.” In fact, as opposed to the contentions of the tabloid’s untraceable “source,” it’s actually Lopez herself who recently said she’s not looking to get married quite yet. Last month, Lopez told Harper’s Bazaar in an interview, “I do believe in marriage,” adding, “And I would love to grow old with somebody in a committed relationship. But I’m not forcing anything right now.”
And that wasn’t all. Just three days ago, following the release of her song “El Anillo,” which is Spanish for “The Ring,” and which references baseball, Rodriguez, and has the lyric, “Where will I get the ring?” there was speculation Lopez was asking Rodriguez for an engagement ring. But shortly after the song’s release, Lopez was asked in an interview on Beats 1 about whether a proposal was imminent and she shot it down.
Lopez said, “We’re good right now,” but reiterated her remarks from a month ago, by noting, “I’m not trying to rush into anything, I’ve done that before, to no avail.” She further explained, “I’m a little bit more grown up now and I like to let things take their natural course.” So, it should be 100 percent clear that it’s no Rodriguez having “cold feet.” It’s actually more of Lopez not wanting to hastily wed.
That’s not to say their relationship isn’t serious. It is. In fact, while the tabloid maintains Rodriguez is reticent to walk down the aisle for a second time because “a wedding would involve lawyers,” the couple has already had their fair share of legal work binding them to one another. Just a month ago, Rodriguez and Lopez bought a $15.3 million condo together in New York in both their names.
Interestingly, the National Enquirer’s sister publication Star reported exactly a month ago that Lopez and Rodriguez were already engaged after he allegedly put a $5 million, 9-carat diamond on her left hand. Of course, that wasn’t true, as confirmed by both their reps to Gossip Cop. And this latest tale about Rodriguez saying “no” to marrying Lopez also strikes out.
