The actor teased his part in the film Friday on Twitter. "Folks…it's my absolute pleasure to announce that I've joined the @marvel universe. This is truly a lifelong dream come true for me and I urge you to see the new @avengers film as soon as possible…it honestly exceeded every expectation I could've had. Enjoy it," he wrote, keeping his role a mystery. The film's credits confirm he's the skinless bad guy.
It has been seven years and 13 movies since Red Skull was last seen, many wondering where he had been all this time. In the film, we learn that after he touched the Tesserat (a.k.a. Space Stone) in "Captain America: The First Avenger," he was transported to Vormir to live in purgatory until someone successfully retrieved the Soul Stone. It's here where he meets Thanos (Josh Brolin) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana), who is sacrificed so the Mad Titan can retrieve the gem.
It's unclear what happens to Red Skull after the purple guy gets his hands on the rock.

So why didn't Weaving reprise the role in "Infinity War?" Well, this old quote from 2012 might explain things a bit.
"[I]t's not something I would want to do again," Weaving told Collider about appearing in a Marvel movie. "I'm glad I did it. I did sign up for a number of pictures and I suppose, contractually, I would be obliged to, if they forced me to, but they wouldn't want to force someone to do it, if they didn't want to. I think I've done my dash with that sort of film. It was good to do it and try it out, but to be honest, it's not the sort of film I seek out and really am excited by."
Although Weaving didn't reprise the role in the third "Avengers" installment, Marvel made a great casting choice with Marquand. The actor is known for his spot-on impressions. Watch some of them below!
