Kylie Jenner is not changing baby Stormi’s name because of Stormy Daniels, despite a tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct this claim, which is based on an unnamed “source.” We, however, will take Jenner’s word on this.

According to Star, “Jenner thought she had found the perfect name for her daughter Stormi, but now she’s freaking out” because of the adult actress, Stormy Daniels, who alleges she had an affair with Donald Trump. The tabloid quotes a so-called “source” close to Jenner as saying, “Kylie doesn’t want her daughter associated” with a political scandal or Daniels because of her profession. “She’s seriously considering renaming her,” adds the alleged insider.

The alleged “source” asserts that one of the names Jenner is thinking about as a substitute is “Butterfli” because she and the baby’s father, Travis Scott, “love butterflies.” The questionable tipster contends that the makeup mogul might “make Stormi her [daughter’s] middle name.” “Kylie is just beside herself” over the name choice, concludes the insider.

The problem with the tabloid’s premise is that the Stormy Daniels scandal that had Trump’s lawyer paying for her silence broke wide about three weeks before Jenner gave birth to her daughter. It was not only the biggest topic of conversation, but Daniels’ alleged affair with Trump even knocked Jenner and the Kardashians off the covers of the tabloids. Clearly, she knew about the other Stormy.

Also, if the reality star were truly “freaking out” and “beside herself,” she wouldn’t be publicly referring to her daughter by her birth name. But she does quite often on social media. On April 11, for instance, Jenner posted a photo on Instagram of her pushing her daughter in a designer carriage, along with the caption, “Stormi strolls.” And on April 26, Jenner’s Instagram story, captured in this photo, featured a large bag on wheels, which Jenner noted was “Stormi’s new luggage.” She didn’t advertise taking Butterfli out for a stroll or buying Butterfli a new travel bag.

Star has not always had a stellar track record when reporting about Jenner. And while the tabloid has been provably wrong about her over the years, Gossip Cop couldn’t help but remember a cover story from nearly five years ago in which the magazine falsely claimed she and her sister Kendall were supposedly out-of-control and “spiraling into trainwreck territory.” Impressively, the then-16-year-old shot back at the publication in a number of tweets.

In October 2013, Jenner wrote on Twitter, “I’m not going to sit around and let grown adults create untrue stories about me.” She also tweeted, “I’m sorry to disappoint, but Kendall & I will not grow up to be let downs.” Indeed, the two young women have done pretty well for themselves.
