Kanye West Sends Twitter Into a Tailspin After Complimenting One of Trump’s Biggest Fans
April 21, 2018Kanye West Sends Twitter Into a Tailspin After Complimenting One of Trump's Biggest Fans
While #MAGA believers were cheering, many of the rapper's fans were shocked and turned off by his support for right-wing commentator Candace Owens.
Kanye West sent Twitter into a frenzy Saturday morning, after posting a tweet complementing one of Donald Trump's biggest cheerleaders, Candace Owens.
The African-American conservative writer and commentator, who frequently appears on Fox News, is the founder of Red Pill Black, a website and YouTube channel that targets black conservatives. In addition, she's also the communications director of "Turning Point U.S.A," a non-profit right-wing organization.

"I love the way Candace Owens thinks," Kanye tweeted Saturday morning, sending Owens' name to one of the top trends on the social media platform. "Only free thinkers."
Owens, who considers herself to be "free" rather then far right, can be a considered a controversial figure. Last summer, she posted an essay in which she said "Black men getting shot by police isn't racism," because of this and many other controversial things she has said, the political commentator is considered to be anti-Black. She has also been under fire in the past for being anti-LGBTQ and like other conservatives, a fact-hater.
It's not clear which of Owens' thoughts Kanye likes, but nevertheless, she was very flattered by "The Life of Pablo" singer's shout out and now hopes to meet with Kanye.
I’m freaking out. @kanyewest ….please take a meeting with me. I tell every single person that everything that I have been inspired to do, was written in your music.
I am my own biggest fan, because you made it okay. I need you to help wake up the black community. https://t.co/Uz1nB9K0Oz— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) April 21, 2018

Also happy about Kanye's shoutout was actress Roseanne Barr, who is a proud Trump supporter, as well. "Bingo" she replied to Kanye's tweet applauding Owens.
bingo.

On the other hand, actor Don Cheadle is definitely not a fan of "free thinker" Owens. The actor commented on a video of Owens speaking at an event for "Turning Point USA" at UCLA, in which she talked about victimhood and how African-Americans shouldn't call themselves oppressed, because of this a Black Lives Matter protest broke out. Owens called the protesters "toddlers" and Cheadle was quick to comment.
Black Lives Matter protesters showed up to my @UCLA event to protest. Here is a video clip of me smacking them down with the truth; they’re a bunch of whiny toddlers, pretending to be oppressed for attention. pic.twitter.com/riBA0A3J1I

my critique of your post was about your behavior. your pointing out the “good ones” vs the “bad ones”. it’s about your dismissive, berating tone, being flip about the “emotions” of our parent’s parent’s generation. it’s a pain contest? start there. https://t.co/5BlejPs6cV

And of course the conservative commentator was quick to clapback to the actor's comments, even saying that she would donate money to a charity of his choice.
Huge fan of your work, @DonCheadle. Rather than critique me over twitter, why don’t you debate me and my stance on BLM publicly? I will raise 50k for the debate, all proceeds to charity. What do you say?

You respond, but not to my offer? A simple yes or no will suffice. Many of us are under the impression that you Hollywood stars are nothing but hot air when it comes to your political stances. Prove me wrong.
50k, charity of your choice.

Like Cheadle, fans weren't afraid to share their frustration for Kanye's support of Owens. Some even tweeted that they would no longer buy the rapper's music.
See some of the reactions dividing Twitter below.
Kanye is praising Candace Owen. Nope that's it. That's me done.

I’ve always defended Kanye, but promoting someone like Candace Owen? Take one look at the people happy about it and that tells you all you need to know.
— April (@aprilrenae) April 21, 2018
I really defended Kanye West. I love Kim and I think he is a good artist but he's gone way too far at this point. Candace Owens? Really? What would his mother say about that? He's a joke and a caricature of himself at this point.

Aside from being an insane alt right race pimp Candace Owens thinks Donald Trump is literally the messiah not you @kanyewest so you might want to reconsider https://t.co/dKVnbi3Ila

I’m ready to delete, burn and never buy another Kanye album or item if this is who he supports https://t.co/WNunwQ8nih

I know Kanye has a lot of white friends, fans and followers but Candace Owens' followers only see him as that nigger who humiliated Taylor Swift. By way @kanyewest , have you met with your boy Trump to discuss the violence in Chicago recently? Of course not.

Kanye: Now if I fuck this model, and she just bleached her asshole, and I get bleach on my T-shirt, imma feel like an asshole
Conservatives: Disgusting, repulsive, how dare he
Kanye: Candace Owens
Conservatives: Kanye, the second coming of Jesus, I've always loved Kanye— dame 🤣😭🤦♂️ (@dametekz) April 21, 2018
Candace Owens is a black conservative who thinks “black men being killed by police isn’t about racism”.
But y’all go one ahead and keep blindly following this lost soul. https://t.co/oEWnK4fNZK— Frederick Joseph (@FredTJoseph) April 21, 2018
There are others, however, that are happy Kanye is showing his love for Owens and the right-wing.
Thank you for tweeting this.

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! It is so great to see stars with influence like yourself come out with your views about conservatism! We have been suppressed by the left for far too long! #maga #MAGA2020 pic.twitter.com/pahM1dW6pP

Candace Owens is an example of why I have my ideals. She’s a strong/ independent black woman that thinks for herself. She doesn’t want hand outs & hates the victim complex. She doesn’t give a damn what y’all think. Kanye West supporting her shows that black people are waking up.

We love the way Candac Owens thinks, speaks, and conducts herself too!
True patriot.
Thank you, Kanye West, for acknowledging her too.— McQ (@cultcommoncore) April 21, 2018
