Is Jennifer Aniston losing famous friends to Justin Theroux? A new report claims she’s “hurt as some of her pals choose to take her ex’s side.” But Gossip Cop can debunk the story.
The questionable article appears in the new issue of Closer, which points out that Aniston and Theroux were “often seen holidaying with their tight-knit group of friends,” including Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, Ellen DeGeneres, Chelsea Handler, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jason Bateman and Amanda Anka. But it’s alleged Aniston is now “worried she could lose her A-list pals” to her estranged husband. It’s specifically claimed the actress has been “left hurt by friends who seem to be spending more time” with Theroux than with her.
As evidence, the tabloid brings up Theroux recently attending the premiere for Blunt and Krasinski’s new movie, A Quiet Place. “Jen was gutted when she saw Justin hanging out with Emily and John, especially as she hasn’t heard much from them since the split and has been told they’ve been spending a huge amount of time with Justin,” a so-called “source” is quoted as saying. The gossip magazine’s supposed snitch goes on to contend, “She’s also heard that both Chelsea and Gwyneth have reached out to Justin, and Gwyn even invited him to a dinner party in L.A. while Jen’s barely spoken to Gwyn.”
“She can’t help but feel somewhat betrayed by many of her pals, especially as she was friends with many of them before she had even met Justin,” the purported tipster asserts to the outlet. This highly suspect “source” adds, “Being faced with constant reports about Justin moving on has been hurtful enough, so feeling like her pals could be taking sides has been a double blow for Jen.” But much of this is provably false.
For starters, the publication romantically links Theroux to Aubrey Plaza, Olivia Munn, Petra Collins and Alexa Chung, yet none of those rumors were actually true. As “Entertainment Tonight” recently reported, Theroux is still heartbroken and getting over his split with Aniston. He hasn’t “moved on,” and Aniston knows better than to believe what’s being peddled by the gossip media.
And while it’s true Theroux recently spent time with Krasinski and Blunt, that doesn’t mean Aniston still can’t count them as friends or is on the outs with other mutual pals. Just a couple of days ago, Aniston went to Paltrow’s engagement party, which was also attended by Handler and more stars. Notably, Theroux wasn’t there. And only a few weeks ago, Aniston went to Tahiti with Bateman and Anka, and DeGeneres was there, too. So were other celebrity pals.
It seems like the magazine merely took note of Theroux’s recent outing at the premiere of A Quiet Place in New York, where significantly he lives, and decided to manufacture a tale about Aniston being left out of their Hollywood circles. But had the outlet bothered to research and fact-check, it would’ve found plenty of evidence to show that’s not actually the case. The premise of this story, that Aniston fears she’s losing friends, is entirely moot and false when it’s abundantly clear she’s not.
