Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan ‘Are Both Just Incredibly Sad’ About Split

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan are struggling to come to terms with the end of their eight-year marriage.

“They are both just incredibly sad,” a source tells PEOPLE. “They fell out of love, and it was a tough realization to come to.”

The former couple, who announced their decision to separate on Monday, met on the set of the movie Step Up and tied the knot in 2009. The film acted as a turning point in both their careers and personal lives.

“They grew up together,” adds the source. “They’ll always be connected.”

The actors announced the split in a joint statement exclusive to PEOPLE, saying, “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple.” They added, “There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.”

Moving forward, Tatum and Dewan, both 37, are focused on co-parenting their four-year-old daughter Everly.

“They’re amazing parents and are determined to stay a family,” says the source, adding, “Their daughter is their world.”

The Magic Mike star has moved out of the L.A. family home. And as the former couple adjusts to their new normal, both Tatum and Dewan are leaning on friends for support.

“They have plenty of mutual friends who love them,” says the source. “Channing has been spending more time with his friends over the last couple months and Jenna, of course, has her close group of girlfriends that she’s been leaning on.”Original Article
