Arnold Schwarzenegger Has Emergency Open-Heart Surgery, Will Be Back

Arnold Schwarzenegger had to undergo emergency open-heart surgery. The good news?

He’s currently recovering and in stable condition.

The bodybuilder turned movie star turned governor went in for a catheter valve replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement failed, which sent doctors to perform emergency open-heart surgery. The surgery lasted several hours.

Schwarzenegger had an aortic valve replaced in 1997.

Arnold’s people released a statement to TMZ:

“(The procedure was) to replace a pulmonic valve that was originally replaced due to a congenital heart defect in 1997. That 1997 replacement valve was never meant to be permanent and has outlived its life expectancy, so he chose to replace it yesterday through a less-invasive catheter valve replacement. During that procedure, an open-heart surgery team was prepared … in case the catheter procedure was unable to be performed.”

Schwarzenegger has a busy schedule on his plate when he gets out. Triplets, the sequel to 1988’s Twins is currently in pre-production. Another Terminator film is also in the works.

Don’t worry, Arnold fans. We all know how this story ends.
