The Weeknd Is Sad and Singing About Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid
March 31, 2018The Weeknd Is Sad and Singing About Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid
The Weeknd blessed the masses with a surprise EP last night titled My Dear Melancholy,.
Since 2016’s Starboy, The Weeknd had made headlines with his split from Bella Hadid, his relationship with Selena Gomez, and Justin Bieber splitting him and Gomez.
Suffice to say, he had plenty of material for My Dear Melancholy,. And fans were quick to pick up on the lyrics.
“Call Out My Name”
We found each other
I helped you out of a broken place
You gave me comfort
But falling for you was my mistakeI said I didn’t feel nothing, baby, but I lied
I almost cut a piece of myself for your life
Guess I was just another pit stop
‘Til you made up your mind
The track certainly sounds like it’s a direct message to Selena Gomez, even referencing that he was contemplating donating his kidney to her. Francia Raisa ended up as Gomez’s donor.
“Wasted Times”
Wasted times I spent with someone else
She wasn’t even half of youThese girls only want you when you’re winnin’ (winnin’)
But you’ve been with me from the beginnin’ (ooh, yeah, yeah)
And I know right now that we’re not talkin’ (not talkin’)
I hope you know this dick is still an optionYou were equestrian, so ride it like a champion (I’ll beat it)
This sex will get you high without no other substance
Hadid and The Weeknd dated just before The Weeknd exploded in popularity in 2015 and broke up a year and a half later. Hadid used to ride (horses) competitively. The two may or may not still be hooking up as I type this.
“Privilege”
Enjoy your privileged life
‘Cause I’m not gonna hold you through the night
We said our last goodbyesAnd I don’t wanna hear that you are suffering
You are suffering no more
‘Cause I held you down when you were suffering
You were suffering
Either he really misses Selena Gomez or he’s just being a dick. Gomez and Bieber ended up together after her split from The Weeknd, but even that relationship is on the rocks.
If you’re going through a tough break-up and can’t get over your first real love, this is the album for you.
