This Is Why Kanye West Refuses to Smile for Photos
There's a reason for his frown.
It’s not everyday you get to see Kanye West smile. The rapper has been known to put on a stoic expression every time he comes close to a camera.
So when the dad-of-three was proudly beaming ear-to-ear during a recent family trip to the San Diego zoo, the internet collectively lost its mind.
“Kanye smiling clears my skin,” user @TheStanEdit tweeted as many joked they were retweeting the posting the photos of the 40-year-old’s grin “for good luck.”
“I instantly feel happy when I see kanye smiling,” @marieyouwanna wrote, while @thereadingdiva commented, “I am always here for smiling Kanye.”

The photo in question was just one of several Kim Kardashian shared on her Instagram Story of the clan’s trip to the zoo. Joined by daughter North and son Saint West, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and her husband looked like they had meeting all the animals in their habitats.

“Thank you @sandiegozoo,” Kim, 37, captioned a picture of North flashing a peace sign after meeting a baby hippopotamus. In another, the big sister was seen feeding an elephant a piece of lettuce.
The only member of the Kardashian-West clan not pictured was 10-week-old baby girl Chicago, who was born on Jan. 15 via gestational carrier.

The family outing came just days after Kanye and Kim took their eldest daughter to Washington D.C. to participate in the March of Our Lives rally, which was organized by the student survivors of the school shooting in Parkland, Fla.
“Having my daughter march along-side her grandfather and parents was a day I hope she remembers forever,” Kim wrote on Instagram, captioning a shot of her little girl sitting on Kanye’s shoulders during the peaceful protest. “I know that the younger generation will vote to change these gun laws that so desperately need to be changed. Hearing these stories yesterday and meeting so many families affected by gun violence was heart breaking and I hope when it comes time to vote we all step up and vote to protect our children.”
