Angelina Jolie did not take her kids to see the reboot of Tomb Raider, despite a number of inaccurate reports circulating in the news. Gossip Cop can clear up the situation. We’ve learned the actress took her children to see a different movie.
On Sunday, Jolie was photographed entering a movie theater in Hollywood along with her kids, Zaraha, 13, Shiloh, 11, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 9. The Daily Mail wrongly assumed the actress and her children attended a screening of the Tomb Raider reboot starring Alicia Vikander. Jolie, of course, played the lead role of Lara Croft in the original 2001 movie and its 2003 sequel.
Publications such as Us Weekly, W magazine and E! picked up the incorrect article. Gossip Cop, however, is told by a source close to Jolie that she actually took her kids to see the new movie Love, Simon. The coming-of-age drama, starring Nick Robinson, Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel, tells the story of a teenage boy struggling to come out to his friends and family.
The Daily Mail later rewrote its article after learning that Jolie didn’t take her children to see Tomb Raider. But as opposed to issuing a correction or retraction, the untrustworthy outlet attempted to scrub its initial story from the Internet. The site’s new headline reads, “Angelina Jolie takes her children to watch Love, Simon.” However, the tabloid’s original headline referencing Tomb Raider is still visible on Google (see below).
It should be noted, Jolie and her kids are often seen on movie outings. The family was spotted in December seeing Star Wars: The Last Jedi in New York City. Considering that the actress and her kids are clearly movie buffs, it’s entirely possible they’ll see the Tomb Raider reboot at some point. However, Jolie and her kids didn’t see the film this past Sunday.
This also isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has had to debunk a phony story surrounding the actress and the new Tomb Raider. Last year, we busted a tabloid for falsely claiming Jolie dropped out of doing a cameo in the reboot because she was angry about Vikander taking the role she originated. Check out the Daily Mail’s original headline and updated version below.
