A story asserting Beyonce and Jay-Z are “putting family first” on their new tour is fake news. Simply because the couple’s joint concert series was announced on Monday, a certain website made-up a related article. Gossip Cop can bust it.
As widely reported by a number of outlets, Beyonce and Jay-Z’s “On The Run II Tour” was officially revealed today with plans for shows both abroad and in the United States. The tour will begin with a European leg in early June, followed by North American dates starting in late July. The couple themselves has not actually spoken out about the plans, but a promo video was released via Beyonce’s YouTube page, as well through Jay-Z’s Tidal. Beyond that clip, which simply features footage of the longtime couple, neither has commented on the upcoming concerts.
Yet HollywoodLife, of all places, is claiming to have an “exclusive” about how the superstars feel about the venture. In statement that can be best summed with up “duh,” a so-called “source close to the couple” is quoted as saying they are “looking forward to their tour because it’s going to allow them to be together for a lot of the time.” This seemingly fictional insider goes on to offer another obvious assumption by asserting that “to be able to do it together and to bring the whole family with them makes it less stressful on everyone.”
In yet another rational conclusion that virtually anyone would be able to come up with, the site’s almost assuredly invented “source” maintains, “It’ll be nice not having to call each other or FaceTime each other when they will be sharing a tour bus together instead.” This alleged tipster further contends, “It’s clearly a family first tour.” Well, with three kids aged 6 and younger, Beyonce and Jay-Z are of course bringing along their children and intending to make sure they’re a priority. Even the timing of the tour, occurring during the summer when Blue Ivy is not in school, makes it self-evident that family is coming “first.”
None of these contentions are revelations. Furthermore, one aspect of this purported scoop is actually doubtful. While there will no doubt be tour buses involved with globe-trotting project, the family won’t always be relying on that mode of transportation. HollywoodLies, as it’s nicknamed, apparently fails to realize Beyonce and Jay-Z have a private jet at their disposal. It makes little sense to suggest they’ll be traveling from, say, Buffalo to Nashville, as the schedule calls for in August, by bus for 10 to 12 hours when they can just fly in a luxury plane for a fraction of the time.
But let’s get back to the main premise. The outlet wants readers to believe that even though Beyonce and Jay-Z themselves have not publicly spoken about their tour plans, someone “close” to them ran to HollywoodLies within hours of the concert series’ unveiling to dish. The likelihood of this is slim to none, particularly considering this is the same online publication that was caught lying about when Beyonce’s twins were released from the hospital.
As Gossip Cop has repeatedly demonstrated, those legitimately connected to the singer and the rapper don’t go spilling to HollywoodLies. This article is fake news that was merely concocted to capitalize on all the interest surrounding the tour. If it was actually authentic, perhaps the details would’ve gone beyond the no-brainer assessment that Beyonce and Jay-Z are “looking forward” to hitting the road and being together. Real news this is not.
