Are Meghan Markle and Prince Harry going to the island of Nevis for their honeymoon? A report claims the future spouses are eyeing the Caribbean for their special post-wedding trip. Gossip Cop looked into the story.

According to Woman’s Day, Markle and Prince Harry want to go somewhere “private and isolated” for their “royal honeymoon,” given that they’ll be having a “pomp-filled wedding that’ll be watched around the world.” The tabloid alleges the bride and groom have “their hearts set on Nevis,” and have “booked themselves into the remote Caribbean island.” It’s specifically claimed the couple will “stay in an $8,000-a-night private beach villa at the Four Seasons Hotel.”

“Harry has wanted to take Meghan to Nevis since they met as it holds an extremely special place in his heart, due to the time he spend there as a child with [his mom Princess] Diana,” a so-called “insider” is quoted as saying. And while in the tropical locale, “the newlyweds will try for a baby straight away,” contends the outlet, which further asserts Markle and Prince Harry are “even referring to the holiday as their ‘babymoon.'”

Of course, “babymoons” typically take place after a woman becomes pregnant. The concept is to take a final trip as husband and wife shortly before the child arrives. What’s also notable is the publication doesn’t indicate exactly when the honeymoon would take place. Is this a vacation immediately following the May nuptials, or will they be traveling later in the year? That’s a key detail to leave out.

Outlets have actually been speculating since January that Nevis could be the chosen destination for the “royal honeymoon,” given the island’s connection to Prince Harry’s childhood. Prince Harry also made an official visit to Nevis and the neighboring St. Kitts in 2016. One of the tourism leaders in Nevis even made headlines earlier this year for expressing they were “quietly confident” Markle and Prince Harry would pick the island for their special trip.

But odds-makers have been naming other places as possibilities as well, including Botswana, which is where the couple went camping during their courtship and from where Prince Harry sourced the diamond for Markle’s engagement ring. So, with all that in mind, did Woman’s Day actually break the real news that Prince Harry and Markle are planning to go to Nevis, or is the tabloid really just guessing? Well, when Gossip Cop called up Kensington Palace for some insight, the royal staffer with whom we spoke actually laughed out loud at the idea that this is a genuine scoop.

All authentic plans for Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding and marriage have been released through the monarchy’s official channels, not via the gossip media. Wherever the couple decides to honeymoon, this is just an unsubstantiated guess for now.
