Three People Being Held Hostage in Calif. Veterans Home by Armed Suspect: Police
March 9, 2018An armed man with bullets slung around his waist is holding three people hostage at a California veteran’s home, police said at a press conference Friday.
There have been no injuries, police said.
At 10:20 a.m., law enforcement responded to a 911 call about shots fired at the Yountville Veteran’s Home in Yountville, California Highway Patrol Golden Gate Division’s Assistant Chief Chris Childs said at the press conference.
Within four minutes, a deputy from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene, where “gunfire was exchanged,” said Childs.

Currently, “The suspect has three hostages detained in one room,” says Childs, who did not identify the alleged gunman and said police have not yet made contact with the suspect.
The hostages are employees from the organization Pathway Home, and Childs described them as “employees who help veterans.”

Hostage negotiators from three different agencies are on site, he said.
