Is Kate Middleton really “jealous” that Prince Charles “likes” Meghan Markle more than her? That’s the latest claim coming from one of this week’s tabloids, but Gossip Cop can shoot down this phony report. We’re told it’s “rubbish.”
In the newest edition of Star, it’s ridiculously alleged Prince Charles has “already started playing palace favorites.” According to the publication, he “prefers” the former “Suits” actress to Prince William’s “upper-crust wife Kate,” and Middleton “keeps whining” about it. A so-called “source” is then quoted as telling the gossip magazine, “Kate’s intuition is absolutely right. Charles does indeed enjoy spending time with Harry’s beautiful bride.”
The outlet’s supposed “insider” is further quoted as saying, “[Prince Charles] says the American actress is absolutely charming and relatable. In contrast, HRH’s conversations with daughter-in-law Kate often tend to become… rather awkward. With Meg, Charles feels more himself.” Does anyone really believe an often discredited American tabloid has such solid royal sources that they’re on a first-name basis with “Charles,” Kate,” and “Meg?”
Still, Gossip Cop fact-checks every article, and a palace source assures us the story is complete “rubbish.” We’re told Prince Charles doesn’t “prefer” Markle over Middleton, nor is the Duchess of Cambridge “jealous” of her father-in-law’s fondness for the actress. And while Prince Charles obviously likes his future daughter-in-law, having publicly gushed about Markle’s royal engagement to Prince Harry in November, he certainly isn’t “playing favorites” with his sons’ partners.
Unfortunately, we’re not surprised by the falsity of Star’s latest tall tale. As even the most casual Gossip Cop reader will know, the magazine isn’t entirely reliable when it comes to reporting on the British royal family. In January, for instance, we corrected the outlet when it published an absurd story about how Middleton and Markle were allegedly plotting to kick Prince Charles’s wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles, out of the family.
And a little more than a year ago, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for wrongly claiming Prince William and Middleton had been crowned king and queen of England. Naturally, time and reality proved us right once again, while underscoring how inaccurate the magazine is when reporting about the royals. Much like that past cover story, the current article alleging Middleton is “jealous” that Prince Charles prefers Markle over her is nothing more than fake news.
