Jennifer Aniston did not reveal the “truth” about her divorce from Justin Theroux, despite a new tabloid cover story. In fact, she hasn’t spoken out about the split at all since announcing their separation last month. Gossip Cop can bust this deceptive report.
The new issue of Life & Style was designed to mislead readers. The cover features a big picture of Aniston with the teaser, “Jen’s Story: He Put Me Through Hell.” She never actually said any such thing. Similarly, inside the edition, the headline declares, “Jen: The Truth About My Divorce.” She never said that, either. But the gossip magazine contends, “After her split from Justin Theroux, Jennifer Aniston reveals shocking details of their nightmare marriage.” This is a lie. She has not revealed anything.
The outlet is trying to dupe readers into thinking Aniston made new public comments, perhaps even in an interview with the publication. But this is tabloid trickery. The actual article is merely filled with what supposed sources and insiders claim went down during the marriage. For example, while the cover line sounds like it’s a direct quote from Aniston, in the story, it’s a purported “pal” who asserts, “Jen is saying that Justin truly put her through hell.” This alleged friend, as if any real one would dish to the gossip media, goes on, “The truth, she says, is that it was never a real marriage… The relationship was dysfunctional from the get-go.”
One so-called “source” brands Theroux a “nightmare,” claiming Aniston often ended up at best friend Courteney Cox’s house “in tears.” Contends the magazine, “The way Jen sees it, Justin simply refused to change.” It’s specifically alleged Aniston was “jealous” over “how cozy he got with other women,” and that “his behavior continued even after she told him how she felt.” The outlet even asserts the actress’s “worst fear” was that Theroux was “interested in some of her own pals.”
“One of the worst moments for Jen was when she started seeing Justin flirt with her friends,” an “insider” supposedly claims to the publication. In addition to purported “trust issues,” another alleged “insider” maintains the couple “shared harsh words” over the years about their differing lifestyles. And, in a stunningly intimate detail, the aforementioned “pal” also contends Aniston “complained he never said ‘I love you.'” There’s also contentions about “nonstop fights over having a baby.” The alleged friend ultimately concludes, “One thing is certain: She’s done being put through hell by Justin.”
Actually, what’s “certain” is that Aniston prefers those in her trusted inner circle don’t spill about her personal life. That makes the likelihood that people genuinely close to her gave these claims to the tabloid slim to none. And the magazine certainly isn’t being honest with its packaging, which deceptively makes it seem like these allegations came from Aniston herself.
It’s ironic that the headline is touts the “truth” when the cover story appears to be fictional. The former “Friends” star even warned fans about made-up stories when Aniston and Theroux announced their separation three weeks ago. “Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative,” they said in their joint statement, noting how “the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent.” Life & Style just proved her point.
This journalism malpractice is not an isolated incident. Nearly a year ago, the outlet offered a similar “Jen’s Story” edition, in which readers were led to believe Aniston revealed “why she’ll never be a mom.” Just like now, the article was manufactured.
